Where did all the laughter go
All the smiles and good times
For months they've not been around
There is sadness to our rhymes

So much negativity
Seems there's so much pain and hurt
Always seem to be those few
Who can cause us disconcert

I think with the cold winter
And the grey overcast sky
It brings down many people
And the inside starts to die

But spring is round the corner
It's a fresh-a-ing new start
To leave behind our worries
Grab our bags and our golf cart

Get out into the outdoor
And breathe in some good fresh air
Breathe it deep into your lungs
And let's push out all despair

Take a shot at happiness
Write a happy poem to share
No better way, start the day
In refreshing morning prayer

I wanna say here something bout the second stanza. Those who cause disconcert, meant that there are always those who cause to ruffle our feathers.  Someone who hurt us and causes us to be sad. Ok, I was pointing no fingers at anyone for being sad. Stating more of how we came to be that way.  ok, let's be happy.

Perhaps we need a Pie Friday!!!!

Today at work, our lunch group was pretty quiet...stress from the job you know. Then we started talking about pie. Well, everyone had a favorite. I suggested that someone bring in a pie but we couldn't decide what kind we all wanted. So we decided to all bring in a pie!

We'll all bring in our favorite pie..so there will be six pies. Then we'll sit with our pie servers (everyone brings their own) and cut our pie into six pieces.

First you take one piece out of the pie in front of you. Then pass that pie to the person on your left. If you don't like Cherry pie, you will just hold the previous piece on your server till that pie is passed on. We'll ask a neutral party to signal stop and then we can have as much of the pie that's in front of us as we want!!! Some of our group are not going to eat lunch that day ..except for the pie! We took about 30 minutes to come up with this plan, coordinate the rules and laugh our butts off....now we're hailing our Pie Friday as the best thing of the winter...and next month it's going to be Cake Wednesday!

It's amazing what a little silliness will do for you.....  happy Pie Friday!!!!

Thank you Denise! What better thing to take a shot at? ~hugs~

Devine you're so right! That's just what we need to do around here.  But I don't have a virtual pie! hehe  We need to pass around laughter and smiles and good times!  To my left is goes...

Who's to my left? Anyone? Identify yourself!

WhtDove,
I enjoyed this poem, and I agree, we sometimes take ourselves too seriously (I know I do!   One thing I have to gently disagree on though -- I don't understand why happiness is always an achieved for state. Yes, happiness has it's place, but it makes for an incomplete life when that's all you seek. That's what I've learned anyway, that when you live life for expectation rather than actuality, you will be depressed. I think the best thing about life is how much beauty there is, and how many friends are out there, not necessarily how much we can get happy.

Still, thanks for sharing. And I'm not out to get you, I swear!

I agree....we all could use more happiness in our lives. Spring is right around the corner. Love and happiness are in the air. I think you are right when you say in your poem that winter makes us sad and dreary like. *Cheers* to moving on, and looking for brighter and happier days!

Well I tell you what, this poem was very refreshing.  I hadn't really thought about it but things are a bit gloomy around here.  When's Toe coming back, anyway?  Hmmmm, I can't promise anything but I'll try to come up with something to make you all smile, how's that?

bsquirrel, I take into thought what you say. I don't think you're out to get me. But God came to give us life, and give it more abundantly. We can't be happy all the time, and that's not what I'm trying to state. We all get sad, have bad times and I'm not taking away from that. Those are god given emotions we all have. I have been here a while and this place used to be filled with laughter, and fun. You could always log on, on a bad day and get a good laugh. This place was brighter and cheerier. I've found as of late it has become awfully depressing! So my intent was, to spread a little cheer around here!  And I'm not out to get you either   Just wanted to explain!

LOL Shawna! I miss you around here. Hey, exercise does good too! Brings cheer, makes you feel good. But I'll pass the pie anyway! Thanks for being there, to my left   Love ya too!!!

Devina thanks! Passions could use a good cheering up!

Aimster thank you! I was once told, and won't forget these words...When you head out into the world, with a sad attitude and you come upon someone, if you start conversation with oh this is wrong that is wrong, grumble. What happens??  It is a reflection of what your giving out that comes back to you. Your attitude is a reflection.  Now go up to someone and smile, and say what a beautiful day.  What do you think will happen?  Just a thought, I had to try it one day years ago, on the insistance of my mom. It worked!  I think a lot has gone wrong for many of us, and the negativity around here is spreading like wild fire!

Thank you Michael! God bless you for that!
I had Toe in mind too, geez, we could really use him around here!  (((((TOE))))) where are you????

Ruth it actually wasn't intended to be a challenge. Hey but now that you mention it, I guess it kind of came out that way didn't it?  hahah  GOOD!  Thanks hon! ~hugs~

Quick note, folks:  haven't been here lately because of STRESS at work [he he], certain personal problems that I'm in the middle of dealing with [not so he he], certain other problems that won't allow me to put a lid on them...[now really not he-he'ing] and I have MISSED ALL OF YOU!

Whtdove, I've been getting the cute notes you've been sending out courtesy of one of our Passions members - always uplifting.

RE: PIE theory.

A pie is normally in the form of a circle.  A circle also represents life.  If you put the circle on its end in a two-dimensional sense, there are two sides, a top, and a bottom.  In order to travel through life, the circle must revolve, from top to bottom.  I.e., there are down days, and up days, if you gave the circle a beginning, and an end, and sent it traveling on its way.  And through life, there are seasons, which the circle must travel through.  Our sunnier seasons, Spring, Summer, Fall, keep us pretty "up" in spirit.  Then comes winter, the sometimes dreary, dull, quieter time of thoughtful regeneration which sometimes cannot be seen, because the only real "life" is down deep.  But as Whtdove's poem says, Spring is right around the corner, and everyone will be bubbly soon.  And the circle [or pie] will have completed it's cycle [the pie gets eaten...LOL].  And we will start all over again.

So folks, that's my two bits.  Hugs to everyone, and keep up the good work, Whtdove.

WOW!
You People Are The Coolest!
Glad to be associated with the likes of you all...
I'm all for "pie" Friday in here.
Following step with the rest of you,
I vowed away my depressing prose and poetry
a couple of days ago.
Looking forward to the new side of the leaf.
"HEALING", yes, it is to spill all your emotions in here
But I've gathered more balm for my owies lately
from the "happy" words I've read in here.
This is a great suggestive post, Whtdove!

I'm game...cause I am fed up to the back teeth with *ME* being miserable as well...maybe we should have a *happy hour* when all poems have to be funny in some way, cause if you think funny you'll end up smiling...ooops, does that classify me as a nut...*g*

A happy poem (this is a joke, I'm just revealing my feelings)

Gosh, this is bad
to have this forum
go from happy to sad.
I didn't realize I was depressing all of you
but sometimes I happy and sometimes I'm blue.
I'm truly sorry and I'll try to put all my sad poems away
and bring them out on a sad poem day.(now everybody laugh)

You're on the money, dovey. It's true that we can't always be happy but we can always make happiness our goal....and I'll run from anyone who doesn't. It's nice to have a favorite place where one can go to leave their problems behind and enjoy the happiness and comraderie of friends, be it Cheers or Passions.   Excellent thoughts, Miss Dove

Happiness being a goal is refreshing and great! However, for many, the art of poetry is part of an outlet to reach that goal. People often read my poetry and think my life is full of pain and saddness-not true at all. My poetry, though, has brought me to a place where I am truely happy, in the peaceful manner that allows for many feelings. It causes me some sadness, not to mention major hesitation in posting, to think any tone is discouraged. Just how I feel. I guess I should go over to dark passions for all the sad stuff.

Christies heart, I am not saying at all that you shouldn't channel your emotions through your poetry.  I write sad poetry too, and happy, and spiritual. What I am saying is a lot of people have been awfully depressed lately. Mostly people I am in close contact with.

I am not against what you write at all, nor do I think anyone here would discourage you from doing so. There are no fingers being pointed here.
Please write what ever you feel you need to write. I wasn't saying not to.

I am trying to livin up some of the "folks" that I know who need a bit of cheering up.
It is a challenge for those who wish to take it, for those who don't...then don't take it.

I'm really sorry you saw that it way, for it wasn't meant to tell you to go anywhere else. Your opinions and poetry are always welcome, no matter what's in them!

For the rest of you, thank you for seeing what I meant. I didn't mean for anyone to take offense to this. It was only meant to cheer up some people.
