With a sudden rush, I remember it now How the night was stifling; the air so thick I feel my heart throbbing, and pulse pounding I sense the sweat now that I am sick As though a heavy burden weighs on me, I feel the bitter taste of hope and fear The world outside my window Becomes a world that only I can hear Now visions blend with the silence I can’t acknowledge the face, nor figure opaque Will I ever grasp what this means? Will I remember when I wake? They say time is an intangible entity But I know it’s real; ever changing I can feel it stop like a bird On a branch, with its feet rearranging I wake with a start A smile painted on my lips, my face I can’t recall what started my fall Only thoughts of a formless face I can’t sleep tonight, will I tomorrow? To think of something else instead Is what I intend to do, though I know, Her face will never again leave my head |
