Ring of Life

Once there was a Teddy bear
His live was simple and mostly fair
The girl that was in love with him
Cradle him when light grew dim
She was a gentle kinda girl
With a lovely smile and hair full of curl
As time went on and life did change
The girl grew up, was such a pride
Soon she became this wonderful young bride
And the Teddy bear was set aside

She now had something that was more real
Something not so fuzzy to her feel
Teddy then was needle put away
A gentle last stroke "Good bye" he heard her say
The oak lid closed and darkness came
Poor Teddy bear, what a shame
There he lay not touched again
Left alone in darkness feeling only pain
It felt like nothing were to gain

Year after year, so endlessly it seemed
Teddy didn't know if he ever were redeemed
The trunk was once or twice around
But never was the heavy lid unbound
Until the day, he saw the light
A little girl felt for his plight
The girl she lifted up the heavy oak
The Teddy opened an eye and almost choked
Burned in his memory the face he saw
Anxiously he waved with just one paw
She saw that paw, she saw

The girl picked up the Teddy bear
That was lying there so cold and bare
She smiled as only little girls can do
And poured out of her mouth came
The long a waited
"I love you"
She was a gentle kinda girl
With a lovely smile and hair full of curl

How sweet and lovely this is!

And once again, teddy finds himself loved and with a purpose!

There's almost nothing better then a soft, cozy, cuddly, sweet teddy bear. I love this poem, it as cherishable as a teddy bear. Can you write one about a 5'tall orangatang? He likes to hang out in our house.

You know, little boys love teddy's too.  I miss mine right now.  I probably loved mine too much, though, the arm was darn near torn off and all the stuffing was running out everywhere last I saw him.     Squeezed him once too much I guess.  Now I have no one to squeeze....

Lovely Poem, Helmut.

Helmut, my gentle friend~
What nostalgic joy filled my heart with reading this piece.
I once stored my 'teddie' in a cedar chest,
until one night I needed his closeness and his ear .... now the darling resides again
on the coverlet on my bed.  He winks and I wink back.

Thank you, darling for this precious
reminder of the teddy bears in our lives.
