ROADBLOCKS

Just when you think  you’re sailing down the highway of your dreams
You stumble on another sort of barrier, it seems
One more little detour, that you weren’t counting on
Another little challenge you must face before you’re gone

Sometimes the road ahead becomes a bright and shining way
Before you’ve had a chance to smile, God snatches it away
He’s got another plan for you, one more heavy load
One more little roadblock He has scattered on the road

So you climb another mountain and you ford another stream
And you wonder what it takes for you to reach the splendid dream
That green and wet oasis,. that place where you belong
You wonder if perhaps it was deception all along

Was the dream just an illusion, a mirage to fool the soul
A sort of bait enticing you to reach the final goal
A way to help you carry on through any kind of strife
A checkerboard of pawns and kings to play the game of life

But who am I to question the price that I must pay
One more little roadblock doesn’t stop me anyway

Elizabeth, my friend~
Wonderful words to wake up and see.

Sometimes I think that God may give us
roadblocks just so we can take the detour,
looking at things from a new view.
Love you ~*Marge*~

With trials we are strengthened when overcoming each task, gold is put to the fire that the impurities may be burnt-up and that which remains is pure and true.
I related to your expression of WHY?  Dennis :^)

I wasn't impressed with the roadblocks as much as the way you wrote them. An exqusite
presentation. You really are a wonderful writer there are no other words to describe
your poems. Love Sy

Liz, sometimes the road block is there to show us the way around, or to keep us from the avalanche ahead.  We just don't know until we have passed it and learned the lessons of it's intention.  Wonderful poem Liz!

Roadblocks of life.....goodness knows I've stumbled over many! This is a lovely poem, such a true and wise description of life. I am a  great believer in the fact that everything has a reason and a time, each known only to God. I really enjoyed this, as I have been enjoying all your other poetry too!

Love and hugs,
Lizzie
