My Dearest Grandfather

All the precious memories,
with my grandfather I shared.
He holds a place in my heart,
because he always cared.
He always knew what to say,
when I needed a friend.
And now I wish ,
more time I could spend.

Hearing his stories,
and watching him smile.
If we could only be together again,
just for a while.
I’d tell him how much he’s missed,
and how much I love him.
What a wonderful man.
There’s no one else above him.

To be your grandson,
truly makes me proud.
We’ll meet in Heaven some day,
upon a beautiful cloud.
I have learned so much,
from what grandpa has shown.
My grandfather is one of the greatest men,
I’ve ever known.

This is beautiful, your Grandfather is smiling down on you, I wish I had that kind of an influence in my life, but neither Grandfather could be here for me for God needed them more. I loved this poem, thanks for sharing it here.

One, I was really reluctant to read this, because my grandmother just passed away on christmas day 1999. I wish I had known my grandfathers as you had. Great poem. My grandma's probably up there flirting with your grand dad right now, or passing out her favorite garden vegetable stew, called hodg podg. It was really good.

Another one who understands.

what a special poem you have written, grandparents are so precious aren't they I lost my nan last year and it was one of the saddest days of my life, she may have been 86 years old but she was the dearest person I have ever known and I still miss her terribly... Thanks for sharing this

One Who Understands~
Touching tribute to your grandfather.
The wisdom gleaned, the stories told,
all a part of his love for you.

I belong to a group that 'adopts'
a grandparent or two.  What joy they
bring into our lives.  When you want to
share in another's life ... go to your
local retirement/nursing home and share
some love with someone who still has
stories to share ... and no one to share
them with.  It will enrich your life.
Love ~*Marge*~

AaaaaaaHHH! You made me cry! I loved my grandpa dearly, he was the only one I turned to when I needed to talk, when he passed away, I was so lonely, I still miss him, even though it's already been 10 agonizing years! But I still haven't found someone as caring and understanding as he was!

I miss you grandpa!!*begins to weep*
