We're Just Dwarves

With  a  'hi'  and  a  'ho'
and  an  'off  we  go'
our  profession  chose  to  be
Each new  day  the  same
as  the  day  before
how  'satisfied'  are  we

With  a  brain-dead  mask
we  starch  our  face
our  thoughts  will  never  surface
An  opinion  given
such  as  ours
treated  like  one  from  the  circus

Yet  down  the  road
on  a  dismal  day
our  opinion  saves  their  butt
But  it's  one  we  gave
six  months  ago
and  our  opinion  it  was  not

Very good. I hate those work place politics. Just smile and nod. I will be looking for more of yours. But I must sleep now.

This is excellent, glad I don't have to work in those circumstances anymore.

Wonderful poem and presentation, Rex! Truth, whimsy, biting humour...this piece has it all...and I love the "starch our faces" line...such a neat take on this! I've been in the same scenario you've shared here, and it's a difficult one, to say the least. I am grateful, every day, for no longer having to be a dwarf...now I am free to be Snow White! (which, I must confess with a sigh, is not all it's cracked up to be, if you'll recall from the Brothers Grimm tale...)
   Loved this poem, Rex.

thanks everyone ... it's sometimes very difficult to bite our tongues ... I can't say as I know anyone that enjoys being treated like a dope and then have our ideas stolen by glory seeking butt kissers
Thankyou Claire ... while your Snow White ...
see if you can coax Bashful out from behind the rubber tree

Rex~
I really enjoyed the way you formatted this.
Your humor is welcomed here for sure.

I LOVE my job but they clearly know
the good Lord made me 5'2" ...
not 3'2" to fall to my knees and kiss butt !

Thanks Marge ... I work for a Union Co now for the first time and the atmosphere on the job I find is similar to the feeling one gets when first entering Passions from the News Groups

Rex Allen, Rex Allen, so glad you did stay.
and I am happy that you have found a greener
pasture to graze in...Although I am not a dwarf, myself, I can relate somewhat, being
of the Hobbit variety.

Great poem Rex.  I too once allowed myself to be pushed to the side only have my ideas stolen by my "higher ups"  But...just last week I had my fill of it...so now it's...
"hi ho hi ho it's off looking for work I go..."

Thanks for an enjoyable read.

Chris

Gee, this is the only poem I've seen here that I could watch for hours. It's almost hypnotizing, like an aquarium

Hobbits are good!
they saved the world from itself ... it's only fitting they should be monitoring the internet
Chris ... after reading your poetry ... one would think you would be quite good at a Resume

Balladeer ... when I count to three you will write another excellent poem ... one ... two ... three
