As the slow morning mists rise
from their cool nighttime slumber
a filtered soft sunrise unveils
the slight dabbling of crisp breezes
playing across the surface
of the otherwise restful lake

Slow gliding loons
ply the rippling lake waters
occasionally dipping their heads
below the reflective surface
to chance a view of silvery minnows
swimming quietly below

The stillness and silence is broken
by the throaty ghostlike call
of a dark hooded loon which
which turns itself fluidly around
and plunges beneath the water leaving
only slight ripples in passing

Very evocative images. Reminds me back when I used to live in New Hampshire, and went camping in Maine.

Loons are wonderful, its amazing how they just dive and come up further down the lake. I love to hear their call. We get alot of them in Ontario lakes.
