California! Yeah! Okay, I'm done now

Wax and wane, so our lives go
Drifting across the moon
Hiding it, diming it, shading it from the world
Only to pull away to allow a slicing beam
Of healing moonlight down

Darkness is settling
As Lady Night's cloak cools
The skies warmed body
And the sun rolls away
Casting a lasting shadow

Brightness drifting, losing its grasp
Until it slips away like a defeated silk mane
Of a fiery unicorn drawing the chariot
Pulling the Sun from your sight
And leaving the void inside
To grow without fight

But what if the night doesn't settle
Casting away the orb that's our very own star?
The day could remain forever in your eyes
Warming, growing life, keeping the cold away
Until loneliness is but a nightmare

The fate worse than death, it seems
Or having the warmth fade, disappear, then rise
In endless falls and rises in your heart
Is to have the sunlight be right in front of your eyes
As you watch the darkness eat it away

Slowly, yet swiftly, a living shadow crosses
Drinking, nibbling, gourging itself
As a fiendish dragon steals across the night
Eating away the sun, the moon, the light falling in waterfalls
Until there's nothing left

The moments are blinding
The acid is painful
For that time when you see how hate can caste its ghost
Across the sky
Loss will be on your mind

The shadows move; the light's returned
Dull in your spirit
For you truly see how much everything is worth
In the agony you feel during that time
Total eclipse of the heart

"Sorrow's crown of sorrow is remembering happier things."

Astraea, as Marge said, so descriptive, and some wonderful imagery!

"Darkness is settling
As Lady Night's cloak cools
The skies warmed body
And the sun rolls away
Casting a lasting shadow"

Especially liked this stanza! (o:

What a beautiful piece you have created there
Liked it very much

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.
