A thousand miles of highway
Iíve put beneath my boots.
Drifting like a tumbleweed...
That hasnít any roots.

Living from a suitcase
And sleeping on the ground...
Morning never knows just where
By nightfall Iíll be found.

I fought some real bad horses-
Some rougher, meaner men.
In spite of all the scars I bear,
Iíd do it all again.

Iíve seen the mighty Rockies
The Arizona sand...
The hills of eastern Tennessee,
The snakey Rio Grande.

The corn fields up in Iowa-
The swamps of Louisiann...
I guess by rights youíd have to say
Iíve been a rambliní man.

Pork and beans, and coffee
Beside a breakfast fire...
No place on earth I have to be...
That life is my desire.

Across the miles, and thirty years
My memory does span...
Iím glad I heard the siren call...
Which makes a rambliní man.

Greetings Gunslinger,

I enjoyed your posting.  I have seen several of the places you mentioned, but not all.  I think I am a few years behind you. One thing I have noticed about the road....it is lonely.

Oh give me a home...where the buffalo's roam...
I do believe you arebecoming one of my favorite poets here!

"Glory remains unaware of my neglected dwelling where alone
I sing my tearful song which has charms only for me."

-Charles Brugnot
