Time is a Traveler

Oh, the sky today
is ripe and sweet
with orange blossoms

The sun listens to my need
and whispers across my face
in perfect ardor

I can feel the reverence
of spring in this grass
that is soaked and greening
with quenched crispness

The sunflowers planted
in December with certainty
that blooming was to be
are tall and stately faces now
holding the fence
and leaning into the glory
of growing yellow

Tender shoots of lettuce
are nibbling ready
and of such variety of fanning
to lacy and delicate
or swollen and stately
that I cannot name
their clever costumes.

The sun slanting across the rug
warms this room to spring
and through the open door
I see the sky is alert
for that contrast in flight
of white and slurring cloud.

I can pluck a feeling from
this ripe day that lifts me
into knowing that time is a traveler
that I walk with

And today it holds my hand.

In the dew of little things,
the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.
(ee cummings)

For a brief minute, I was allowed to leave the cold of the high plains in winter and enjoy a beautiful spring day.  Wonderful work.

It WAS spring today in Southern California, with just a touch of crisp to it.

Sea-- you must live near me.  I think everywhere else is still winter.

Liz--sure hope it's this nice while you're here.

Lost Dreamer--spring is just around the corner.  You could come visit me.

Mike--There is a certain magic in those cold winter days as well, don't you think?--and if we didn't have them, how would we appreciate spring?

Oh, Martie, this is so beautiful! Thank you so much for the prelude to spring! We got another 3 inches of snow today and now it is raining. Come on Spring!

Martie,
Very tender, very rare, seen with eyes of tender care. You are so neat, you are so sweet, you even make the bitter sweet. *L*

Martie~

This is almost as lovely
as spring.

'The sunflowers planted
in December with certainty
that blooming was to be
are tall and stately faces now
holding the fence
and leaning into the glory
of growing yellow'

That alone is soooooooo lovely.

It was an awesome kite-flying spring day
in Florida today.  Spring surely is near.
