How many men
before I meet
the one I search to find?

Tall ones,
smart, or skinny ones,
they all seem slick inside.

With each,
I looked, and saw
a thing I liked behind their shell.

But time
goes by, I start
to see the flaws within their hells.

Tonight I sat,
and talked with you,
I felt that twang again.

But I know,
I see the dream,
not seeing simple men.

Again, I ask,
how many men,
before I find the one?

I hope each time
I meet a man,
that maybe he's the one...

How many licks does it take
to get to the center of a
Tootsie Pop?

Wait, maybe that's a question Hoot was
supposed to ask!

Cute poem!

I think I've found it!
Tulip, please allow me just this once to use your post to get a message across...

Everyone remember the "tootsie pop" commercials, where the wise owl is asked, "how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?" ?  Then the owl licks three times before crunching on the sucker?

Hoot Owl...in no way did I mean this response to be derogetory on your part...I was simply refering to the "owl" in your name.  I liked this poem, but it reminded me of the infamous sucker commercial from my youth.  It was mentioned to me last nite that I was being "childish" in my response, and was even told "you dogged Hoot Owl"...Please know I would NEVER do that to anyone in this forum.  Never.  I hope you were not offended, Ruth.

Tulip, I still like your poem a lot.

How long do we spend settling for Mr. Wrong?
There is nothing more exciting than meeting someone that could possibly be the one. : )
Thank-you for making me think!

Tulip...cute poem and when you find out, let me know.

Januarary flowers...I'm glad this and the other post were pointed out to me. I knew exactly what you were talking about when I saw your reply....I did not take it as anything derogatory as I remember those comercials well. Please feel you did nothing wrong. HUGS   Ruth

Don't give up the good fight, Tulip.  Maybe a poet would reach your heart best?

Someone who appreciates the same things you do, a sensitive and caring soul...I don't know how one goes about doing this, but I do believe that all things happen for a reason and many lessons need to be learned sometimes before we see the way clearly.

Along the way, we pay for our mistakes. As is said, if we learn from them and don't repeat the patterns, perhaps then fate will
be kind...

And, sometimes when we stop looking and trying, that's when love just drops from the sky with a wink and a nod.

Sonjes,
I've spent too long with Mr. Wrong, I'm not willing to settle for anything but Mr.Perfect.  I'm just finding this dating thing a little unsettling!
Mistikman,
No worries!  I'm on to them!!
Hoot,
Thanks for reading! I always enjoy reading yours!  Let's keep our fingers crossed on meeting the "right one"!
Corinne,
I love your line about love dropping from the sky with a wink and a nod!  If one could be so lucky...Thanks!

Jmlee,
How many women are out there?  Hopefully we both don't have to experience them all before we finally meet "the one"!!!

They do come when we least expect them.  She did for me but I let her pass me by.  Now that would be another poem.  But what do I do now.  I let one pass me by, will there be another or have I made the mistake of my life?  Keep the hope, he will come your way.  What you do when he comes along is up to you.  Good luck and happy hunting.

Scorched dragon,
Timing seems to be an important part of the picture, is it possible to meet the right person at the wrong time?  It doesn't seem quite fair...
