IN EVERYTHING I KNOW

I know she only wears Obsession,
No other perfume will do.
Purely a woman of discretion,
She anchors to what's true.
I've seen her sit shy and quiet,
And I've seen her come alive.
Just by hearing Ricky Martin
Or Lou Vega's Mambo 5.
Her eyes deep brown, her hair worn long,
Even longer still, her dreams.
Yeah I know this woman inside out,
But I've overlooked one thing it seems.

I don't know what it takes to hold her love.

She loves dressing casual,
Shorts and a T-shirt will do.
I know she loves the ocean,
Salty Margaritas too.
She isn't much for cold weather,
She loves to soak in the sun.
A quiet girl from Arkansas,
But she knows how to have fun.
She likes playing the piano,
She's written a song or two.
A true artist, she loves to paint,
But the pictures incomplete, it's true.

I don't know what it takes to hold her love.

And I don't know the words
That'll open up her heart.
I don't know how to win the love
She gave me from the start.
My pen has lost it's power,
And it knocks me to the floor.
Cause nothing I do will make her say
"I love you", anymore.
In everything I know about her,
In everything I've held so dear.
In everything that we once shared,
I've overlooked one thing I fear.

I don't know what it takes to hold her love.

Okay...(taking big deep breath)  Here I go, attempting to reply to this beautiful poem...How very nice - you remember so many of the fine details.  All you listed is true.  I wish I had the answer to your question for you.  Maybe I will ponder these things, and write it in a poem, for at this point, I'm not sure myself.  I think that will be my homework for tonight.  As I have wondered the same thing...."What does it take to hold my love?" I'll get back to you on that...

This reminds me of the saying that if you love something, you must set it free... if it comes back, it's yours forever... if it doesn't, all the attempts in the world to hold it will never make it yours.

Great poem, Michael.

suthern has wise words there. True love will come back to you if you let it go. We must not put too many expectations on love. This is the most difficult thing in the world to do but it will be the most rewarding when that love is returned. Fear is the greatest foe of love. Time, patience, caring and a gentle hand are the only things that can tame that beast. Much luck to you, friend.

michael michael michael, why must you know my heart.  I love your poems, they relflect the love of my previous boyfriend.  But the words I love you, never came from his mouth ever again.  Love does hurt, but what is life without it.  One of lifes many questionable feelings.  Once again, a nicely written poem, by a nice person.  Much love, One love, PEACE

I couldn't turn away from reading this once I began, but it gave me that ache in my heart that's just so familiar. Your writing is superb, and I'm sorry you're having to hurt like this. Praying for a healing breath to enter you soon.

Ouch!
I can understand your feelings completely in this.
Sad, but easily do you convey the disappointment
in not knowing how to hold her love.
Sigh.
No, really big sigh.

"My pen has lost it's power
and it knocks me to the floor.
Cause nothing I do will make her say
"I love you" anymore."

Wow, Michael.
You have a way of conveying precisely what you feel.
I feel like I've been a party to this myself.
Sigh, again.

Beautiful poem Michael.  Love is not a thing to hold.  To capture it is to change it.  Just by two bit philosophy.

It's yours
If it doesn't
It never was.....

Michael~
Love is to be given.
Praise be if you're fortunate enough
to receive it in return.
But, remember to cherish all those
beautiful thoughts that you've penned.

How do you hold her love?
Gently and deeply inside your heart.

Much love and compassion to both of you.
Believe that it will happen
if it is meant to be.

Michael this was precious!  It is so hard, I imagine for the both of you!  You two were so happy and excited, and when you return, oh man.  If love is true, it will overcome the problem! For God is love, and that is the most powerful thing in the universe! LOVE

Micheal,

I have to say your poem reminds me of my relationship right know. I don't have any answer for you or myself, maybe showing her all of these wonderful replys from your friends. Patience is a hard one to do but some times the only thing that can be done. Hope you find your answers.

Michael, I saw a glimse of healing, and reaching another level in this poem. I could be wrong, yet Ihope I'm not for I pray for you each day. It's a beautiful poem and I think you may have even reached her with it.

Micheal, I can't tell you how many times I've asked myself that very same question..."What can I do?"

"But in truth,
there is nothing except to show her..
in every way that I know how
I must show her.
If there ever was a time and place
it is now
I can't wait until tomorrow
or next week
I must go to her now and show her."

(From a play that I wrote called "^Angel^~says:")

Now how that is done, I can't tell you...but remember my/OUR prayers are with you Micheal.  Always.

Just want to say thank you to everyone for all the replies - the advice - & the prayers.  I think I'll lie quietly for a few days now and heed some of that advice.  I'll see you all again sometime Monday probably.

Michael. . . why don't you know?  You did before didn't you?

Or did you?

I'm sorry. . . I guess this just makes me very sad. . . heart broken. . .
