She lies awake at night
With the radio on,
And smiles a sweet smile
During her favorite song
Her classmates think she’s smart
And must study all the time
So they don’t bother with her
In high school cliques, it would be a crime
They missed out on a true friend
Funny, loyal, a shoulder to lean on
There was a time when all were equal
But those times are long gone
She has to go through the motions
Hidden tears soon become a river
As she spends nights in her room
Painting different faces in the mirror

He lies awake at night
With his radio on,
And stares at walls for answers
During the same favorite song
Everyone loves him for his looks
But it’s a game he doesn’t play
A little too much sensitivity
He has to hide to get through the day
Popularity is relative
To how bad you want it
And he tosses and turns, but
Just can’t put his finger on it
He thinks of her and doesn’t know why
But, in his heart he thinks he does
The only one who really knows him
But it just can’t be; only just because

never let that feeling slip away through your fingers. I liked this poem, took me back to highschool. Nice work. Looking for more....Much love, One love, PEACE
