Ideal

Oh Hoot Owl did you ever consider the risk
to search for a man in a forum such as this?
For example, how should we feel
if we offer our love
and our feelings are real
only to be rejected by you
cause we're not your ideal?

James...a purer heart and a truer friend you will never find. Though I have to agree with you about the forums and the distance etc. True love does find a way though. What is love without a risk?

I agree totally with you Marilyn except....some risks are riskier than others.  As I give this some thought I would have no problem with someone as lovely as Hoot Owl and yet she may not value me as much as I value her.  That does not make her a bad person...she is the only one that understands her heart.  I have just emailed my friend Mich who lives in Vancouver and she is so weary of long distance relationships, for example she has a friend in California and another in New York, both romantic relationships and then there is me in Hawaii, her friend.  She would love to have her boyfriend living in Vancouver.  Another point...do we really want everyone in this forum to know every detail about our romantic endeavors...I think not...and although we post poems on these subjects sometimes I believe we live to regret some of those post.   For example, when you first fall in love you want to shout it on the rooftops, if all does not work out as we envisioned it we can become hesitant to talk about it and in fact may resent anyone else commenting about the relationship.   Just my opinion.   James

Okay James...you do raise a couple of very good points there. It is rather embarrasing to display your love for all to see and then for it to fall through....been there done that...but in turn, these people are like family to me, they have shared my joy as well as my pain. You are also correct in the fact that everyone knows their own heart better than someone else. Trust plays a key role in any type of a relationship...although I do not trust easily, I trust wholeheartedly until someone gives me reason to do otherwise. I guess it all depends on how much you trust someone whether any type of relationship can survive...long distance or otherwise. Each person is different, what one wants is not always what another does, you will find that anywhere, not just here. What do I want? Honesty, respect, companionship, trust, someone who wants and needs me as much as I want and need him , someone who can live without me, but chooses not to.

Thank you wayoutwalt for reading and responding to my poem.  James

Hoot Owl I appreciate this opportunity to discuss subjects such as love and rejection with you.  I believe that your desire to reach out and find love is no stronger than mine...and it seems that my desire to protect my heart is more of a concern for me.
I have to admit that you are in a more desirable place than I right now.  I yearn for the day when I can put my hurt feelings, the rejection, lack of trust, my pain and sorrow totally aside and just go for love with no reservations.  And sometimes I do and sometimes those feelings come crashing back.  So Hoot you are a lovely person and valuable in my eyes...the doubts are in my heart...and only because of others..nothing you have said or done to me.   I too want someone who can live without me but chooses not to.   James

Smiles...well James, I guess how desirable of a position I'm in right now all depends on to whom you speak. As for me, I'd trade places with about anyone at this moment   But thanks for your kind words. Don't get my little personal ad wrong, I gaurd my heart well most of the time and have been told "I am hard to get close to" although I don't see that. I have many walls of my own and they are not easily brought down and with each hurt, become harder.
Laughing...I'm thinking perhaps I should not be discusing this all in public view.

Hoot owl you made me laugh so much...but this is my year for laughter...I enjoy laughing with you.  When you mentioned walls around you it reminded me of my poem the fright "I want to trust again seeking the closeness that is there but the walls I've built around me seem to keep me from going there".  Yes Hoot owl those walls we build around us to protect us can be very real.
You made a very good point about discussing personal feelings in a public forum.  Trusting you I will tell you anything and everything, however sometimes I have to catch myself because anyone can read my response.  I am reminded that there are some people that you can tell and trust everything with, some you can trust with a little, and some that you can trust with nothing.  Yes it is so true, not everyone in this world loves us and they will take personal information and use it against us.
I wish you the best that life has to offer hon, that for me would be fulfilling relationships, laughter,  romance,  and a good kisser all at the same time. (laugh)  James

Hoot owl and James...
this was so great to read...the sweet and friendly banter and the honest emotions...(one of the gifts of this place)...
James... you wear sincerity like a well tailored tux...always the gentleman(smile)

Hoot owl... this line was pure poerty:
"someone who can live without me, but chooses not to"...

good luck to you both in your search of the heart!!take care, janet marie

Now for me some words come easy...
But I know that they don't mean that much
Compared with the things that are said when lovers touch.
You never knew what I loved in you--
I don't know what you loved in me...
Maybe the picture of somebody you were hoping I might be...
How long have I been sleeping-
How long have I been drifting alone through the night...
How long have I've dreaming I could make it right...
If I closed my eyes and tried with all my might
To be the one you need...

James I can understand your hesitancy with computer relationships, distance makes it tough, everyone knows that.  You are talking America, what if it was someone in England or Australia, then you'd really be up the creek without a paddle.  Wise thoughts my friend.

May the world hug you today,
With it's warmth and love.
I pray it whispers a joyful tune in your heart,
That tell you there is a friend sitting in another corner of the world,
Wishing you well and
wishing you love......
