Where Do Lonely Hearts Go?
~*Marge Tindal*~

Where do lonely hearts go
to find a place to break?
Show me how to get there
before it is too late.

Not wanting to be seen
by happy faces when I cry.
Where do lonely hearts go
to unload their lonely sigh?

It must be by the seashore
where the waves are always breaking.
Carried by the undertow
hearts drowning in the aching.

No lifeguard on patrol,
no rescue overhead.
Where do lonely hearts go
when love is surely dead?

Along the water's edge,
sandcastles in the sand,
dashed and smashed
by a scorned lovers hand.

Where do lonely hearts go?
I wish I didn't have to know.
Giving up to sure surrender,
where do breaking hearts go?

Broken into a thousand pieces,
floating out to sea
the tide turns and brings
my broken heart back to me.

Like broken shells I find them
scattered round my feet.
Where do broken hearts go
to end the misery?

Gathered by a new lover
making footprints in the sand,
my broken heart now rests
in another's gentle hand.

You have such a comforting way with words, Marge!
What a great, creative tale of a broken heart's journey.
An above average answer to such a painful question.

Marge, you sure worked your poetic magic with this poem.  And, it has a happy ending which is what every broken heart needs.  Happy endings are out there if only we never stop searching.
Thanks for such a beautiful response.  You honor me by posting a wonderful poem as a follow up to mine.
Your so kind and considerate!
Danny

JanuaryFlowers~
Thank you for the very kind comments.
Perhaps it will reach a heart that needs it.

Danny Holloway~
I believe the same as you do ...
the connection of the minds, heart and souls of writers MUST meet in mid-flight on the thoughts from the pen.
I thank you for the inspiration for this piece as I happen to like it very much.
Your 'thoughts' talked to me.
I'm pleased that you found it to your liking.

Marge, another beautiful poem.      Sorry hit that back button in error.  But this truly is deserving of two "beautiful poem" comments.

normally i find the amount of poems dealing with love to be mind-numbing (at best)  but i can undoubtedly say that this one has far surpassed what we see every day, it is a grand work of art.  the emotions are dealt with very well in a true poetic fashion...i dig it yo

Aahhh...the soft and lonely song of the broken hearted.  Forever may our hearts beat as one in perfect harmony realizing,
and captivated by one another's pain.
Like no other place on Earth we are here, learning to live...again.

Thanks for the enjoyable read Ma'am.

That is exactly where this lonely heart would go
But I don't need to because I have you and the poetry you do
Very beautiful your poem Marge
Now write one where happy hearts go, how about it?

Marge,
Found this link in the Pub, decided to have a looksee.  This is beautiful.  I only wish that I could trust people enough to give out my heart once again, after it has been broken so many times.  But, I do find comfort in this.  Thank you.
