To watch the candle burn down slowly-
To watch each ember dissolve-
into nothingness...forever...

As I lie helpless in this cruel world-
I realize I'm just one fragile being-
running through this maze of life...

Yet soon, my candle will burn out-
My ashes will blow away-
And nothing will move again...

Not one sign of life-
The world stands still-
So just promise me I won't be forgotten...

As the world moves on...

Open arms can be the most fragile in the world...

Devina, I really liked this, thought provoking. Well Done!

Devina-
This is simply lovely.
The image of the candle flickering
and dying out and yet it's beauty
begging for remembrance is pretty
gosh-darned powerful.

I hardly doubt you'll be forgotten.
I think that's one of the greatest gifts poetry gives back to us, is a form of immortality!

BTW- Shouldn't you be in bed???

A candle is burning for you here
I'm sure you'll be rembered
Such poem, such wisdom words carved in stone
Another true devina
Love it

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

I think this is something we all desire, to be rememebred, to have our life, in the grander scheme of things, mean SOMETHING.....good work.

devina, sure hope your candle doesn't burn out too soon, even though none of us know how long our candle will burn.  All we can do is live each day to it's fullest.  I met Dinah Shore many years ago and she had a saying "Life, be in it".  Never forgot that!
So, here's wishing that your candle burns brightly for a thousand years and the last thing you see before your candle goes out, is mine still burning.
All the best.......
Danny

To live is to die.  To be remembered is to be forgotten, only at a later time, as death awaits us all.  Still, we all seem to want or need to know in heart that we've made some kind of impact or some difference to others while we were here.  You have done this already, devina, just by being yourself.  You will not be forgotten soon, I promise. - And you best not be dying any time soon either!!!  LOL

Lovely poem.

O devina, you'll never know how this poem has touched my heart.  My uncle passed on today, and he will always live in my heart.

Ricki Lee Jones wrote:  "You never know when you're making a memory..."

Judging by your words alone, you have made more than a few.  Forgotten?  No way!
