I'm sorry that I love you too much,
that I made you the focus of my humble life,
and if I basked too much in your glow,
and drew strength too often from your spirit,
I'm sorry!

My devotion to you was inexcusable,
the attention I lavished on you, unforgivable.
If I cared too much, or admired too much,
or if my praises grew too loud in your ears,
I'm sorry!

I'm sorry if I made myself a burden
with my constant gifts, and offering,
and if the sound of my heart breaking
disturbed you when you finally walked away,
I'm sorry!

 Did Jesus laugh?
I think He did,
'cause He was once
a little kid;
and all of us
were made with joy
both sugar-spice girl
and snake-snail boy!

Sometimes people are just too afraid to tear down the walls to be able to love in perfect trust--you did nothing wrong...don't be afraid to try again.

(Geez, now look who's trying to cheer people up!  You guys are so GOOD for me.)

Such a sad poem. Should we really have to apologise for loving someone who doesn't love us though? All is not fair in love and war

Great poem, my immediate thought was of a good friend who I could have said these same words to recently.....

Phew, I'm glad you said that. I had a feeling but then I was wondering!  Melanie, don't apologize for the love you gave to someone that didn't care.  They are not worth your apologies sweet one!

Which way is right for you,
Stop and softly ask yourself,
What Would Jesus Do?

I have to agree with WhtDove on this. But your poem is still nice and well done. Perhaps his life was not easy on him either, like it was not on my father who didn't know what love really is. Not that he didn't try, he just had no chance to learn. Nice work Melanie

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

Very well written.
I think he`s the one that should be saying the sorries,NOT YOU.
It sounds to me like he`s the one that has suffered a loss, not you.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

Very beautifully written Echo.  I also cannot understand why someone who you loved so much and tried so hard to please would just walk out of your life.  I mean there have been people in my life who I have mistreated so when they left I though, well now I am getting what I deserve.  Yet when I love someone and treat them wonderfully I don't expect them to walk out on me. Life is very hard sometime.  Take care.   James

"My devotion to you was inexcusable"  What a powerful line that is.  Such a shame we can be made to feel like this at all.  Can truly relate to the pain in this one, Melanie.  Wonderful poem.
