Request

Whisper to me? he'd ask, before we'd part,
as though I had a choice.
As though I could not feel his heart
resounding in his voice.

As though I could not feel his thirst,
the needful, longing rhythm.
The cadence, cresting, of his soul,
the swelling ache within him.

As though I might forget the searching
sorrow of his sighs.
The strength of passion from his lips,
the hunger dwelling deep in his eyes.

And though my love is now a memory
taken far before his years
Each night, I honor his request
murmuring whispers through my tears.

Dear LadyClaire

"The cadence cresting in his soul ..."

Those words are luscious honey on the tongue.  Your work is a delight to read, Claire, I'm always richly rewarded with each new offering from your tender pen.

Full fathom five thy father lies,
Of his bones are coral made,
Those are pearls that were his eyes;
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange...

Gentle words Lady, written there aloft
Words so intense, so soft
Line by line
A sheer divine
I can feel the missing sound
Coming from the ground

Very enchanting poem

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

Meadowmuse you have a way with words...you fit them together so nicely and they spring forth so romantically.   James

Fred...thank you for reading and taking time to offer such a nice response.

devina...thank you so much. Whispering is my weakness.

Majestic...thanks, and I'm so glad you liked it.

Eloise...so nice of you to say it is beautiful. And yes, he was so very special.

Kess...thank you for such an eloquent review. The literary admiration is most definitely mutual.

Helmut...and such an enchanting response from you. Thank you, so much, dear one.

James...I thank you, sincerely, but I must confess, it is more often the words, themselves, having their way with me.

Some poems can just make certain emotions flow through the reader. This is certainly one. Excellent work, Claire.

Claire-
Barely a whisper
yet resounding with love.
What you do with your words
and feelings is so lovely.
Beautiful, Claire.

Whew.

Another poem this e'en to meet my mood. I don't deny this is beautiful, but it also has an enduring painful sadness to go along with it. Whispers through tears, echo to me of unfulfilled dreams and "I wish's."
Sigh, thank you for this one Claire...I think!
