Just One Kiss
~Marge Tindal~

He breezed out the door.
She called him back.
Just one kiss before you go.
Mom's are like that
yeah, they are.
I love you son.
Now go.

She sat
waiting for his return,
knowing all the while,
he was having
the best of times
it's that way
when you're still a child.

A child, a teen
and somewhere in-between,
the bonds of love are forged.
A mother knows the reasons
for the seasons in your life.
That's what mom's are for.

She dozed and was awakened
with the knocking at the door.
The mother in her
didn't want to answer.
She knew
what they were knocking for.

With a heavy heart she remembered
the last kiss placed on her cheek.
As they closed the lid on his life
her heart skipped a beat.

Wait!
just one kiss before you go.
She gently placed one on his cheek
knowing it would be the last.
Mom's are like that
yeah, they are.
I love you son
Now go.

*Every day cannot have happy.
This is one of those.
Remembering my brother and mother.

Marge, this was so heartbreakingly tender. Excellent job.

Marge~ this hit so close to home for me.... my son's are always kissing me or making the sound as they walk out the door... always with I love you mom.. Once upon a nightmare I almost lost them both.. this bought me to the hall way of that emergency room.. Where I looked back and forth at the rooms that they lied in..... and home again to what a lucky mom I am... my heart bleeds for your mom having lost... and for your loss as well

If with pen in hand I've made you think
I've not wasted one drop of ink

Marge, I look for your poetry because each one is so special and wonderful to read. This one had the tears running down my cheeks this morning. My son and I have a very special bond - I swear he reads me and I him. I too am so sorry for your family's loss. Your words never fail to move me. -SEA

Very moving piece, Marge - moved me to tears, actually.  Always remember the good and smile for what was shared with them both.  Thank you for a wondeful poem.

This one hit hard... not from any personal experience, but just in the fact that I'm a father with two young daughters.  There is always that fear of the unknown everytime you send them out on their own.

Your words were well spoken... a sad piece but worthy of the read.  I bow to you and yours.

Marge, thank you for sharing this expression of love with us. You've taken your own pain and reflection and formed it into a beautiful work of art that we can all relate to on some level. This is true "loving" poetry, and I thank you for the gifting. ((((you))))

Oh Marge -- my heart just caught in my throat.  I cannot imagine the pain, the helplessness -- and I hope I never will.

Hugs, hun.

Wow, Marge, this is incredible. I dont know how any mother could endure burying  her child. Or Father, for that matter. The pain this poem oozes is chillingly powerful.

Marge,
You have an amazing spirit and heart, and you share it with us in such a beautiful way.
This is an astouding piece of poetry, and the fact that it is real makes it so meaningful to all of us.
Thank you for sharing,

My friends, my friends ...
you have held my heart gently
in your hands this day.
My love and appreciation for each
of you for your tender thoughts
and the sharing of my painful memory.

I am thankful for every year I got
to spend with my youngest brother.
God, how he filled my heart.

The if-only's of life confront us
when someone leaves our presence.
With Mike's sudden leave-taking
we were reminded of the fragile
keeping of love, sharing the moment
like there may not be another.

Hug a loved one and give them that
kiss ... while you can.

Love, hugs and kisses to you all.

What loving understanding you put into your words Marge and what a beautiful, yet heart breaking poem.  I guess you know how your mother felt cause, poets and mothers are like that.

Oh Marge.

In all the pain and missing of your loved ones they have truly given you a gift.  A gift of love, sharing, and understanding.  As I reflect here on your work and what you have written I see that shinning star that is your gift.....a gift in your work that you share here with us all

Intriged by the title, captured by the first stanza and by the forth my heart sank. As a mother, this is my biggest fear. I didn't want to finish reading it, but with tear filled eyes I did. You did an excellent job Marge.

This poem is wonderful!  Reminds me of a friend that I have that passed away the day before Mother's Day five years ago.  It really hits home!
