Dark of night
see the poet write
cursed by numbers plain
too few they say
to know the world
too few to know the pain

But what age is too young
to hurt
to love
to feel

Who’s to say a poet
has to be a sage
to hurt
to love
to feel

Who’s to say a poet
can’t be fifteen
to know
what’s real

Who will listen
to the poet song
whether young
or old
or right
or wrong

And in the forum
we call Teen
resides the poet's pain
and love
and life

I know the Open Forum is for everyone and the Teen Forum is for Teens. But today, I issue the challenge to you all to go to the Teen Forum and read and reply to a few poems there. We were all in their place at one time...hoping that we would be read..that someone would understand..that through responses we would receive validation. Your words will have a powerful effect. Please... Thank you.

Speaking as one who resides now in both Open and Teen forums, I must say that the teen forum is greatly in need of a little push. Many in the forum post poetry, but no replies, leaving the average number of responses to about 3 or 4 per poem, as opposed to 10 in nearly every other forum. If we go in and respond to the poetry there, maybe those there will follow your lead and begin posting their own replies more often.

I am not a poet, I am merely one who speaks in emotion

You know, I am not so old that I do not remeber well the frustration of being a teen.  That no one seemed to want to hear what I had to say - that no one took me seriously.  That no one cared to guide me from these emotions left serious scars on me emotionally.  I think we all could stand to pay a little more attention to the works in the Teen Forum.  Some of them are darn good, too.  But most of all we should at least hear what the voice of tomorrow is saying today.  Their points of view we can't afford to overlook.

Thanks for the suggestion, Poet DeVine.  I've just spent a mere 15 minutes "down there," and found poets (including Tamma, rich-pa, Master, the ones I happened to hit in that short time) that we'd all be pleased with "up here" . . . and of course, they probably soon will be.  But let's let them know we're here now, and that *they* speak to *us* too.  Good move, DeVine.

I'm too tired right now but I will listen/share in the morning

As a teenager, I would have loved this place, to know so many people understood, would have made so much difference...

I wonder how many recognise, outside of communicators, (i.e. here)  the value in sharing and putting emotions into words and although as a teenager I wrote, I wonder who would have understood...

Such a way of understanding you have, Sharon..

The grape passes through the press to yield wine.
Your life must pass through the press of passion and pain to yield the wine of wisdom..

Well, when ya put it like that, it's just so hard to say no.  Wonderful verse Devine!

So very true Michael!
