Another sleepless night
Where I seek to dream
and yet I am
awake.
Sighing at ungrateful pillow.
Wandering in my mind
over
and
over.
Endless tossing, turning.
Can't stop thinking.
Seems unending as the clock
berates me in the night
over
and
over.
Out of my bed, I stumble.
Perhaps a nice stroll
will lead me to slumber?
Yet here I am,
still
awake.

I don't dabble in free verse often.  I wrote this some time ago and never thought much of it.  It is fitting at this time of night though, so I thought I'd share it.
um...g'night.  LOL

Cool poem. I myself have had many a sleepless night, many for no reason at all. It is rather irritating, especially when you have something important the next day, and you need sleep.

I am not a poet, I am merely one who speaks in emotion

Sally-
I like what you've said
and can understand the
not-sleeping-hours of our nights.

I welcome them as
awakened-moments
that are meant to be,
just for me.

I can really relate, Sally. One of the bad things about staying awake is that you don't get much sleep   uh, 'night, Sally!

Very nice....but don't worry you will sleep enough when you are dead....LOL

I'm sorry I wasn't able to reply sooner.  I've been at the hospital...my mother had surgery.

Thank you all for the replies.  You always bring a smile.
