The other Side
I didn't mean to drink and drive
To take the life of not one but five
I was just out for a little fun
A little drink made me feel like number one
I thought I was fine to get behind the wheel
I didn't understand the big deal
But I drove the night
And caused many a fright
Ending only with the smash
And sound of crushing glass
I didn't mean to hurt anyone
I just thought I was having fun
Until I heard the screams that night
Until I saw the look of fright.
On that family's face
As their car flipped onto its base
I didn't mean to hurt anyone
I guess I wasn't number one
Forgive me, someone please
I'll pay my fees
This nightmare will end
Nevermind that, many lost their friends.
Forgive me, someone please
My fees aren't enough so here are my pleas
For I tore whole families apart
I took their lives by the local mart
Five teenages just learning to fly
I took their lives before they had a chance to try
Please forgive me, someone
Here are my pleas, I'm not number one
I'm sorry, so sorry
My God, WHAT HAVE I DONE?

Time flies? Say it not so, time stays we go.

The ending of one life is a chance for another.
Or so they say. Thanks for the replies.

Wow, interesting to see the other side of this. I read so much about the evils of drunk driving and those who do it, but it is rare to see the other perspective. Well done!

I am not a poet, I am merely one who speaks in emotion
