Childish wonderment and glee,
Come so naturally to you,
You see the things adults fail to see,
There is magic hiding within you.

Youthful zest for life,
Every moment is but a joy,
You remind the world how to love,
My precious little boy.

Your eyes look into eternity,
Eyes of ocean blue,
For one so young to know life's secrets,
There can only be great things waiting for you.

Don't let age change you,
Or harden you sweet soul and heart,
Don't shut down those emotions,
As society says you ought.

Always look with not only your eyes,
Look with your heart as well,
You heart will always whisper the truth,
For it is the place where serentiy dwells.

Don't grow up too soon my Dinny,
Dwell in your childish reality,
For all too soon you'll be an adult,
And these precious years only memories.

You venture out into the world tomorrow,
Starting to make your way,
I give you two precious diamonds to take with you,
My love, and my hopes for you, each and every day.

I love you Dylan.

THIS POEM IS FOR MY SON DYLAN WHO STARTS PRESCHOOL TOMORROW.   HOW I WILL MISS HIM....

How sweet Isis! How well I remember that same feeling! I hope all of us can hold on to "our child". Life is soooo much more rewarding if you can! Thank You, Bev

Isis, you brought back memories for me,when my son went to preschool, I didn't even get a second glance. I got a fast hug and a wave over his shoulder! I cried, but was so proud to see him spread his baby wings. Good luck! Extremely sweet poem! -SEA

Isis-
These are such tender words
from a mother's heart.
Dylan will warm your heart with
many memories of love.

One day he'll walk through the door,
having grown so straight and tall,
wrap his arms around you and whisper,
"Oh, my little Mommy,
I love you most of all."

You'll look back through tears
and cherish the memories of the day,
that he started pre-school
and slowly came back to say,
"Mommy, I love you."

*Hugs* ~*Marge*~

My own personal mentor, when I've gone through similar emotions, told me - If they leave your side and succeed in their lives (at any age) - it only means you've done your job well.... Smile and enjoy his pleasure.... He'll be back before you know it...

Isis this is a wonderful poem to keep in his book.  The day my youngest one went to kindergarten I cried. My babies are not babies anymore.  I missed her being here with me. But I tell ya now I enjoy that time, though I have found another little one to keep me busy during the day.  haha...

Excellent!

This is a big steppingstone, and you approach it with tender love. I'm sure he will be all that you want him to be. With a mother like you, he can only be a very lving adult. Beautiful poem and beautiful advice

What a wonderful poem, Isis! My son is only 20 months old now, so I haven't faced the 'preschool' challenge yet, but I know it will be hard (for me, at least)!    Your poem makes me want to go wrap my arms around him and never let him go!!  Great work!!

This is beautiful, Isis! It's hard letting them go out into the world, but as long as he has you waiting at home, he'll be just fine!

What a lovely and loving poem and it brought back memories for me too.  Just remember, he may get bigger, but you'll always be his mom.< !signature-->

Thanks everyone .  I know all Mum's go through this but it still hurts a bit.
WhtDove I have already printed it out to put in his memory book.  I am too sentimental to not do that!! LOL
Thanks again everyone.

Such a lovely poem for your son.  Its time for him to spread his wings a little bit.
He is blessed to have such a loving mother...and as you have said he goes not alone but with your love and hope in his heart and I might add also with your strength and courage.   I know you will miss him and also you will love and appreciate him even more when he returns to your arms.   A parents love and support is so valuable.   James

Update:   Well Dylan started preschool this morning.  He was fine, but Mommy shed a few tears after she left him.  He was getting right into it and having a ball.  I'm so happy for him.

Thanks to everyone for your support and kind words, and saying he will grow into a wonderful man cos he has a Mom like me.  I really appreciate hearing that.  ((HUGS)) for everyone - Thanks.
