Oh Spring, Please Come

My thoughts have turned to springtime
And the warming of the earth
The colors of the garden
And the redbud tree's rebirth

I'm weary spent of winter
And norwestern's blowing chill
My heart now longs to have a taste
Of springtime's radiant thrill

But from my morning window
I gaze at snowy mound
The sun spreads crystal mantle
Of glitter 'cross the ground

The holly tree and maple
Show off their silhouette
Each twig and leaf in snow adorns
This crystal white vignette

A wonderland of glimmering ice
My heart delights somehow
In the joy of glassy icicles
On rhododenron's bough

The early robin sits above
And contemplates the floor
And waits as I for March's melt
And green to grow once more

Oh Spring, please come and melt this glaze
And feed the flinch and crow
But let me cling just one more hour
To February's snow

Elizabeth Santos

I'm with ya on this one! Tired of that bone chilling wind. Ready for anything warmer!

How's Tony Liz?

Lorelei
Thank you

WhtDove, Thanks for the comment. Tony is doing well . Surgery will be in about 5 weeks and so he is having chemo and radiation in preparation . Our spirits are good now that we have a chance. Thank you for your concern.
Liz

Fair Elizabeth-
So lovely.  So you.

You've brushed the canvas with
the vivid colors of spring.
How I long for the thrill
of the orange blossoms
fragrance in the air,
and the sound of the mockingbird
on  my windowsill.

Slippin' and slidin', what a fright
On ice encrusted streets tonight
Back from the store I safely came
My parking spot was gone, the shame
It took three hours to dig out
Last week and now I want to shout
And scream at this most selfish act
Now on a mound of snow, a fact
I had to park and I'm so mad
When spring arrives I'll sure be glad!

Beautiful poem, Elizabeth!

Marge,
I've never seen an orange blossom
Or an orange in a tree
But the sound of mocking bird
Is an angel's voice to me
Thanks, Marge

PDV,
Thanks, dear poet
It's still winter here
But spring in my heart

Nan, I need spring, too

Denise, You make me laugh
I can see poor Denise come home tired from work
Unable to park because of some jerk
So she parks on a snow mound and comes to a stop
Wheels a'spinnin til she gets to the top
Then she couldn't drive again til the snow melted down
So for days she had to walk into town
Then the same guy who took her dear parking spot
Reported her "abandoned car" to the cops
Then the cops came along and towed it away
And Denise has promised revenge til this very day
Into tire slashing, dear?
Thanks, Liz

Roniece, You're very kind, Thank you

d. Schultz, Yes love is the beauty of spring. I can't wait

Hoot, I hear ya.

An orange tree ladden with oranges, yes
in the back yard of our so cal nest
an arbor and salad growing thus
from the mulch of all our labor, plus
a pond with water's crystal shine
and pool for summer days sublime
a bench for someone to sit and dream
of snow that she has seldom seen

Lovely poem Liz.  I do wish for a snowy day like you wish for spring.  It did snow here once when I was six years old--a never forgotton treat.
