Tell Me, Dear Poet

Tell me, dear poet, what you're dreaming of
Is it the beauty and power of love
Is it the moonlight or is it a star
Or is it the passion you feel in your heart

My friend, you have only to read poetry
To know what the poet is trying to see
Just read a few verses, you'll know from the start
Whether or not he has love in his heart

Tell me, dear poet what you're thinking of
Is it a woman you hope is in love
Why are your verses filled with her grace
Your words well defining the shape of her face

Dear friend, you have opened the key to my soul
And exposed the most private and intimate goal
This love is a secret, not meant to be seen
For she's but a lovely impossible dream

But poet, 'tis written so clear on the page
Your love will be known now for all future age
Dear poet. 'twas you all the words did impart
For you think with your mind, but you write with your heart

Elizabeth Santos

I am trying to find
a part of my internal spirit guide.
Each and every day I look
forward to learning something
new about myself.

It is very hard not to write from the heart...I belive we poets expose ourselves probably more than anyone else in our works. Nice poem Liz

Sometimes we reveal more
Than we might have wished
Our work may look like rhyming words
But in writing them we've dished
Out a part of our soul
Onto each poetic plate
What matters to us shows
Who we love, what we hate.
Our words can stab hearts
Or find a new friend.
Poets think they are private folk -
It's simply pretend.

I love your poem, Elizabeth!

Elizabeth,
You are a wonder of wonders,
Wording words, poet to poet.
If I were the poet of this deem,
I would fly into your next dream.
Love Sy
Excellent poem.

My friend,
What a bountiful fountain of love you are,
bubbling with such delightful verse.

I feel the magnitude
of the poet's words,
speaking to my heart.
Softly wending their way,
from you they depart.

Gentle, loving phrases,
forged in indelible ink.
I am so thankful
for poetry that causes me think.

Denise, I didn't know where this poem was going, as I wrote it as I was posting. Thanks so much

Chris, Just write and you will find it
Thank You!

Serenity, You are the one who humbles me. Such kind words. Thanks

Hoot, Yes, most often we say more than we think we do. Thank you

Suthern, Interesting little poem you write here. Good point. We do think we're private people and yet expose our hearts and souls to the world. I can assure you that Toe's poem was from the heart, because it was written as fast as I could type. I sure do like that man.

BSC, Thank you, You honor me

Sy, you are a poet of many dreams
And write all your dreams in your verses it seems
Keep writing and dreaming up to the sky
And you will soon see that you're learning to fly
Love ya
Liz

jascanvey, Thank you, If a poet keeps your poem, that is surely the highest compliment
Thank you

James, You are so sweet
Thanks

Thank you all
Liz

Marge, You know, so many times you respond to a poem with a poem that's lovelier than the original. Thank you, dear friend
Love ya

Standing ovation
Wow

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.
