Grandchildren

Other people's grandchildren are naughtier than my own
And mine are so much smarter in the skills that they have shown
Mine are so much cuter and I've come to notice too
That other grandmothers brag so much more often than I do

I just can't understand why other grandmothers would think
That their grandchildren could quite compare to mine, They're on the brink
I get unnerved when they insist on showing photographs
And constantly repeat their antics, looking for some laughs

I tell my stories, too, but it really seems to me
That my grandchildren do things that are worthy of repeat
I really have no patience to listen to their tale
Because compared to mine, their kids accomplishments just pale

They tell me of their intelligence, I tell them mine are smarter
How my one year old grandson counts to three, just for a starter
Another one says hers can count to ten, and that's not all
At one, he says the alphabet without a single flaw

Well, mine does division problems without a calculator
Her one year old can ride a horse and wrestle alligators
Well, mine was accepted into Yale when he reaches age of ten
She said that hers will probably be teaching there by then

My granson is an athlete of olympic grade, for sure
She said hers has already won gold medals by the score
And thus we brag about their feats and great things that they've said
While all the while, Barney tunes are swirling through our head

This is wonderful Liz.  I don't have grandchildren yet, but when I do I know mine will be bigger, stronger, smarter, braver and ....well just better then yours.  Thanks for the smile.

Elizabeth-

Well, when I get some of those
I'll just make a bet,
no matter what mine do ...
you'll think yours are smarter yet !

I just reckon
I'll have to take a look ...
at those precious little angels
in Grandma Lizzie's Bragging Book !

LOL !  Great little poem.
