If I had never loved, I never would have cried
‘All things come full circle’ said I
‘I’ll just gather my things now that I’m homeward bound’
And she sat stone faced, daring not to make a sound
Somehow I knew we’d be strangers forever more
As soon as I walked out the door
Now I hear the drizzle of rain outside my window
With a voice that fills my head like an echo
I wonder what she is doing on this day
If chance brought us together, what would I say?
I would surely be a different man in her eyes
From the corner of her mind where memory lies
Back then was a time of innocence
Unafraid we were of the consequence
A moment of time that will never be again
She helped to shape the man that I am
How could time rob me so surely of this memory
Every day brings another loss of mental clarity
But a sense of who I was always remains
Even so long after the growing pains
Still there are questions left unasked
And I resign myself to the torturous task
Of wondering about a love that died
And simply wondering …why?

Creation of woman from the rib of Man: She was not made from his head to top him; nor out of his feet to be trampled upon by him; but out of his side to be equal with him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be loved."

JML...I found this inspiring. I'm posting my reply to this as a poem titled
"If I'd Have Never Loved"
Thank you for the line and the inspiration

I think Love occasionally takes a nap
but it never dies unless it's been killed
...Fact?...no...
just my thoughts

I've found that asking the 'why' question is not productive......so I stopped asking?!!!
Great poem!
