I looked in the eye's of a child of mine
I saw not a person I recognized
I saw no shadow's of long ago dreams
I saw not wanting for whimsical things
I saw not the butterfly dance on the rose
I saw not the little boy with dust on his nose
I saw not the child, he'd gone too far
What I saw was a man as he reached for his stars
