A True Story

Today
an old woman
leaped and bounded
across a field
of blooming thistles
to cut my throat
for picking wildflowers
on a rainy day
down a gravel road
leading from
an ancient graveyard--
and THEN
she fell in a ditch.

Sometimes life really sucks.
