I'm wealthy indeed, yes, I've known great gain
For I've known great love and, of course, some pain
But it's only shown what the love is worth
...The greatest treasure in all the earth.

Oh, I've been blest and, yes, I'm wealthier
Than Donald Trump, any Rockefeller
For I've had love of far greater worth
...Than all the riches in all the earth.

Yes, I've known great love beyond all measure
Worth much more that any earthly treasure
And too, some pain, these days on earth
...It's only shown what my treasure's worth.

You see, you're just a pauper without love
Yes, without this gold that I'm speaking of
For all your wealth is of no avail
...You can't buy something that's not for sale.

Yes, I've known some pain in my days on earth
...But it's only shown what my gold is worth.

there is love.
Where there is love,
there is peace.
Where there is peace,
there is GOD.
Where there is GOD,
there is no need.

Denise, this was one of your first poems? My, I am awed! (no, not "odd"...okay, well there might be a few things, but I'm working on all that...) This is lovely, and wise, and tender, and well writ!

"you can't buy something that's not for sale".
The most important things in life aren't things and cannot be bought or sold.
Denise, your poem expresses this so well.

The "worth" of love we can be best explained with thoughts such as yours.  Splendedly done.
