In this world where the frantic pace
Can drive someone insane,
Where fears can turn us into dust,
You're not one to complain.

You're not the type to criticize.
You're not the kind to take
Advantage of another
When he's made some small mistake.

You're not the one to wear a frown
When things don't work out right.
You're not the one to go to sleep
Without a hug goodnight.

You're not the one to shy away
When friendship comes to call.
When troubles make your shoulders ache,
You're not the one to fall.

You're not the one to whimper at
The end of your long day.
You're not the one to fail to bow
In silence as you pray.

You are admired by many for
The qualities you've got.
The world loves you for what you are,
But I - for what you're not.

I liked this too old man....as always...great work.....Yanno?...The title made me think of something....."You're not the one" can be like music to your ears...as in....."DNA testing says YOU'RE NOT THE FATHER...."...or, standing in a "line up" down at headquarters....."YOU'RE NOT THE ONE"........

You know I always wonder whether I should repost any of my pieces, but I never wonder about you reposting yours, as they are ALWAYS well received.  You also seem to have a flair for bringing them back when they are needed.  Thanks, 'Deer, for always being here!

Now, as then... I love the poem... for its own sake and even more for knowing someone it describes so well. *S* If only there were more like that!!

And ROFLMAO @ Toe's take on the title! *G*

Balladeer...this is absolutely wonderful. I'm not sure I've ever read it, thanks so much for reposting this. With so many wanting people for who they are and what they can give to them, I like your refreshing look at things

I really liked this one, Balladeer!  Your poems are always so rhythmic and fun to read, usually have me tapping my toes.  This is quite the wonderful compliment to whomever inspired this one.

Balladeer,

This was sheer insperation.
