"My Wilderness"

Parched by the winds of time
My tounge and throat long to taste
A refreshing drop of truth's moisture
that soothes my secondary life
I was hatched from situations unknown
Yet seen to be a treasure non the less
Cast astray to the dunes of eternity
By which my character has grown
Into manhood so uncertain
That I wander in this wilderness
Searching for something to soothe my thirst
And wash away my doubt hovering as a curtain
Suspending the light of day
from bringing me hope
Casting a form of Darkness over my being
which scorches my flesh at bay
Then upon the embers I cast my gaze
where truth is nailed and all can see
My freedom bound and bleeding there
Giving me a river of life for all my days

"Then upon the embers I cast my gaze

"

Those lines are amazing!  Not to say the rest of the poem isn't, but ... you know what I mean.

--Kess

Full fathom five thy father lies,
Of his bones are coral made,
Those are pearls that were his eyes;
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange...

--William Shakespeare, from The Tempest

Well, now....I haven't seen you in a while.  (or you haven't seen me?!)  A poem one must ponder...and read more than once.  Great writing, jfreak.

Again, All I can say is Thank you and a hundred times over thank you.  This has actually become my new favorite poem. (of my own works)  You are all great encouragers.  And Sally, it has been a long time.  I spent the months of Aug-Dec preparing for a mission trip to Hong Kong over the Christmas holidays.  So all my free time was taken up with working a second job.  I was working two full time jobs just to get the money to go.  I was only getting like 3 1/2 hours a sleep anight.  So i didn't have time to write or get on this site.  It is nice though to come back and everyone still remembers me.  I guess I am almost a Legend. (waking up from dream land now)
