Love Me for Who I Am

Look not at the attire of my being
Look rather at the deepness of my eyes
And cherish the within that you are seeing
And not the outer beauty of disguise

Do not regard the vision of my face
Or want the velvet skin to soft adore
But relish in the beauty and the grace
Within my heart that you've been longing for

Look not upon my body as sublime
But only as a shell to house my soul
Seek out the inner reaches of my mind
And see the total woman as a whole

Please love me first for who I really am
And then adore the moonlight on my face
And touch the flesh and kiss the ready lips
And pleasure in the warmth of love's embrace

Elizabeth, my friend-
Are we the only two people in the world
awake ... reading and writing poetry.
This one is beautiful ...
like you pour out any other kind !
Hope God smiles on your day,
as He has smiled on mine.
Love ~*Marge*~

Im very impressed.  I wish more people could think this way and express it just as beautifully as you have.  You justly understand that truth lies not in what we see or want to see, but in how we distinguish each other's heart.  But not only do you understand this, you also glorify it through learned words.

Imagination draws the picture that I see
one that confines and subjugates me
painting You by light reflected in my eye
or the spirit of the soul my twian to be

In my Imagination arises a nagging doubt
Who in Creation's presence am I looking at
An Angel sent through heavens gate
or the many names of memories past

In my Imagination

I can take you apart

But whole you remain

in my Heart

Wow!
Both poems here are equally great, equally beautiful. I'm surprised Safwan didn't put that one up as a post instead of a reply!

Amazing work, both of you--Liz and Safwan!

Liz - another terrific peom, and purely written from a woman's perspective.  But... well, you know us men - we still need a peekshure..errr..picture to help us get the full impact of your poem.  Nothing too revealing, mind you... a little frontal nudity just so we can see your heart *innocent, naive eyes* - lol

Safwan - your response is terrific poetry - so well stated and sweet - great job

WOW!  Once again this is a very touching poem.  IT does show that MOST men are purely insensitive and only care about the outside being.  I care about the inner being and when I do care about the inner being is when I get hurt the most.  Oh well.  Good luck on your future poems

I love this one, Liz... Now if more men could learn to love with their hearts instead of their eyes...... hmm.... well, it was a nice thought..

If only...
We could see others for who they are
and leave our visual perception behind, if only for a moment.  Yes, your poem says it all.  You can really write!

Elizabeth -- this is absolutely beautiful!  "Love me for who I am"... those are words that everyone should heed.  Hopefully those that have read this have grown a bit wiser!  It seems so easy to love you for who you are -- your words are enough to fall in love with!
And Safwan, I don't want to leave you out, I agree your poem was also beautiful -- I also agree that it should be posted!

If you love something, set it free, if it comes back to you, its meant to be...
