It started out as one man’s dream
And in the span of one short year
There’s been an ever-flowing stream
Of poet types from far and near.

The first, of course, was P. deVine
Who entered through Ron’s open door
With ‘Serenade Of Sirens’ fine
Then quickly added many more.

Ron’s second guest, Maria Byrne,
With ‘Unforgotten Words’ she came
Then third it was our Michael’s turn
And ‘Sleeping Beauty’ was the name.

So many poets after this
Albeit at a hectic pace
Have filled us with unmeasured bliss
While daily gathered in Ron’s place.

Thanks for listening to that small tickle in the back of your mind, Ron!  You have created a place of joy and friendship for all of us!

Thanks Denise for this wonderful poem about the beginnings, and you Ron for the tickle that started it.  This poem tickled me.

Denise-

What a great and important reminder that Passions wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for the creator!  I thank you too, Ron, for creating this wonderful place... no this wonderful home!

Oh, Denise, this is wonderful!! It brought back some great memories...I was posting poetry on what used to be MiningCo.com poetry forum. Ron was posting there too. He replied nicely to my work, with words of praise to my surprise. I admired his work and lo and behold, he told me he had started a site that would take poetry submissions. I checked it out..read all his work...and was amazed at this man's talent! I submitted one poem...and it was accepted...!!!

Then Maria submitted. I had talked to Michael on MiningCo.com and when he posted, it was like the beginning of a family.

I haven't posted many poems there..but have so enjoyed reading the others...there are so many good ones!  I still get fan letters about some of them.

Then in March, Ron created a forum on the site. I wasn't secure enough in my talent to post then...when he opened a second one, I did join in..and that one progressed into the site you see today.

I am so proud to have been a 'founding' member so to speak. And I've made so many lasting friendships from being here.

I would like to add a special thanks to Ron. For without him, my life be different. I would not write as much as I do...I've gained more confidence in my work and myself. I appreciate all he's done for me and know that there is nothing I can ever do to repay him....

Thank you, Denise, for this small tickle..a wonderful reminder of where we all began...

They are not measured by the commitment of time.
Some emotions run too deep to be described by words,
Forgiveness and understanding-
remain the most beautiful words ever heard.

Denise,

I belong to another poetry forum, formed ourselves when MS dumped its chat rooms (well, the intelligent ones, anyway), and I know how much work it takes to get one going, to keep the enthusiam up, and to keep it going.

I take my hat off to ya'll.

Denise,
You are truly "The Guardian Angel of the Forum", reading everbody's poetry and responding in such a gracious fashion. My sincere thanks to you for all your contributions to this forum.
As for Ron, I think this forum reflects the character and integrity of the one who founded it and of those first pioneers. It is your "home" to which we have come, and I love the surroundings. Congratulations and thanks to you all.
And incidently, Denise, I greatly admire all of your work, including this lovely poem.
Liz

I have six words for you, sweet Denise:

The Books of Genesis and Revelation.

Now look what you've done! I'm going to have to go back and read all of those poems leading up to now...lol   Wonderful poem from an even more wonderful poet!

I think now's a good time to say thank you for all those replies you gave to my posts...you were almost always (roughly 80% of the time) the first to reply, and since "Faith in Dreams" I've kept the Corner Pub as an almost permanent fixture in my taskbar.
You've helped this pathetic little dragon so much, and even more so now that you've given him some incredible and amazing poets to look at (first and foremost being yourself).

Thank you for everything, Denise!!!!

Denise-
You are just MARVELOUS !

A fitting and tender acknowledgement to the beginning of a wonderful 'family' place.

The talent here is remarkable.
I've learned and grown with inspiration since coming to the forums.

What an adventure it's been !
Ron is a wonderfully talented man.
I too thank him from the bottom of my heart.

Denise!  This is Great!  I've noticed so many people writing about the forum as of late, and all of the poems just exude total joy over having such a haven.  What a wonderful outlet this place is.....with such fellowship, too.  Thanks, Ron person, for coming up with such a great spot for us to kick up our heels!

To Denise....Wonderfully expressed!! I always do love your work anyway but this is so heartwarming and almost...what's the word?...Nurturing! Yes that's it!! Nurturing. It seems we can all come here for a lift or some kind of inspiration and sometimes even help someone else out of the blues.
To Ron: You are an absolute gem for providing all of us with a safe place to go when the rest of the world has trampled on us
and tried to beat us down into the trash heap with them. I love all the people who have tried so hard to make this a place of comfort and hominess and you are to be commended for your infinite patience.

Thanks to everyone!!!

When the world shuns you
and you are in pain
you will always find home here

When life is just
to dull and mundane
you will always find fun here

When friends turn
on you with disdain
you will always have friends here

When in life's storm
of lightening and rain
you will always find sunshine here

Your words of appreciation are just what makes this place a home. YOU are Passions! It's wonderful to know all of you!

Hey, Denise, very very very cool! Yep, great poem, for sure! LOVE IT! And how true... we have definitely come a LONG way since the beginnings of Passions... didn't know this many people in the world loved poetry as much as me.

I remember the day Nan IM'd me (we used to know each other over at the Scroll/Critic Corner... great place, if any of you are looking to 2-thyme like I do somethymes... hehe)... anyway, Nan IM'd me and told me that she had some poems at netpoets.net, on the Main site, and was talking to Ron about starting a new forum to post. It was very exciting when he first started the blue page...some of you may know it... i know Michael and Sharon were there and Balladeer and some others when we first got started... well, that was just the beginning!!! And now THIS! Over 2,000 members and growing so fast, I certainly can't keep up! (notice, I currently have less than 700 posts, unlike some of your thousands!!! hehe... of course, I spent some thyme in an institute... LOL)...

What I'm trying to say is THANK YOU, to Ron and also to Nan for telling me about this place when it was first being developed... I feel privileged to be part of its beginnings and special that Nan invited me over.

Founding member? well, not me... but thanks to Ron, Michael, PoetdeVine, and Nan, we all have a place to hang our hats!

GREAT poem and tribute, Denise... as usual, your writing has impressed me!

Thank you for that

Thanks OWU and Suthern for your wonderful comments. This is a warm and caring place for sure. I would have included more of the original members in my poem, like Nan, Balladeer and others but the above poem was based on the information that I was able to glean from the digital newsletter. I'm grateful to each and every one of them for the contributions that they each made and continue to make to make Passions the wonderful place that it is today! I'm also grateful for all the members, contributing poets and readers alike!
