Tolerance

The Blue Jay when he comes around
Squanders seed upon the ground
Ill mannered in his feeding way
And empties fast the feeding tray

He takes enough to fill his need
And separates the sunflower seed
Then throws the rest into the air
Without the slightest thought or care

Then Sparrow comes when Blue Jay leaves
And finds the food that he percieves
As left for him just as he found
And eats the seed from off the ground

Swooping down from branch of birch
A Cardinal lands upon the perch
And leaves a space as offering
And others gather near it's wing

Each knows the other's ins and outs
No one complains and no one pouts
Each waits his turn and each is fed
From Blue Jay blue to Cardinal red

OH Elizabeth...I was just sitting this morning with a cup of hot chocolate watching my bird feeder and those greedy Blue Jays. The only bird not intimidated by them is a woodpecker that just ignores them.

The Blue Jays even fight among themselves over seed. Yet, you know...what they scatter to the ground is found by those that forage among the grass blades.

Nature makes sure things work out.

I enjoyed reading each of your replies and appreciated your comments, and thank you Robert for the picture you sent. Aren't they something, those Blue Jays?
Thank you all very much
Liz
