Venus

I gaze at you though hungry eyes
and see a face with no disguise
and make out eyes that can’t tell lies
yet piercing sharp like a vixen wise

I think and dream and lust for you
for the hunger in me to subdue
but one more look at you will woo
my fleeting thoughts enslaved by you
and end up sad and feeling blue

If not for a word from high above
from the One true Mighty God of Love

So the sight of you
is born anew
a heavenly glow
with no ado

like watching Venus
from a riverboat sailing

on Blue Bayou

That's what I like, a face with no disguise.
This is such a lovely poem
