sitting there
in her chair
her image flickers
and wavers
she's worn much too thin.
if you pass by
the door too quickly
you might miss the fact that she's even there
sometimes though
if you stop to stare
and you look hard enough
you might think you see
her laughing
and loving life
but not today,
and if you miss her smile
like I do
and reach out to touch her...

In one word...WOW!  Such feeling, speaks volumes in so few words.  I love it. Very touching.

FC-
I like this a whole lot.

By re-reading it I found two entirely
different interpretations.

One being of a mirage of a loved one
that you miss and want to see.

The other was so reminiscent of a
family I know whose wife/mother is
stricken with alzheimer's ...
someday's she laughs with easy-remembering ..
'but not today'.

Touched my heart, you did.

I wish I understood better.....but, then again, I never was too smart.

The poem is excellent.

This is wonderful, FC! I too read it from two different perspectives as Marge said. From either view this is superb!

I read this to be an alzheimer's patient, a mother. But in any interpretation, this is beautiful

fc, so heart grabbing nad beautiful.  It is amazing how so many people go unoticed if we are too busy to pay atention, but if we stop to care we see so much beauty in them, but sometimes we realize that too late.  You said so much in this beautiful poem!  I am going to miss your poetry while I am gone.  Take care of yourself!

Just be glad I'm not your child! *evil grin*
