Supine in Memories Bed

Supine in memories bed
I think to my youth,
just look at you
ripe and ribald,
delicious in discovery
of lovely love.

Into that open door
where tears were at the ready
the vibrant, vulnerable heart
couldn’t wait that kissing ardor
just around the corner.

It was a blessed time,
fragrant with bright buildings
and silver slanted rain
on nights with no umbrella,
wild and free in youthful negligence,
that lovely dimpling
on the satin water
where shacks of light drowned.

There were verdant hills
melting houses
   muted colors of fog
     glistening bright steel
      glass eyed buildings
that watch
with such gleaming strength
that reverie burns.

Just look at you,
drenched in this mystic moment
engulfing me in your nonchalance,
singing to me of bodies longing,
touching that magic place
of screaming zenith
that brings such reverence
to this walking backward.

Remind me of the anguish
you endured with your fresh heart
and soften this pillow.

In the dew of little things,
the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.
(ee cummings)

Oh, Martie, this is exquisitely lovely!  I know the feelings so well!  You are so gifted. I love it when people write of time, and memories.  I am so filled with my awe of both, and yearnings.

Rosemary--thank you so much for the comment.  I really enjoy your poetry also.

Denise--thank you for your love.

Mike--Not a bad thing to sound like Bob Hope.  Thanks for reading and saying "wonderful".

Absolutely lovely....please lend me your muse a while again

I can live with the idea
That we are merely actors
Playing a part
But I do wish
Whoever is writing my script
Would learn to use
A few more Happy Endings

Me thinks not...  *smile*
