Catharsis: Purification or purgation of emotions primarily through art ~Webster

Catharsis

Words
inked onto paper
in rhythm and rhyme
cleansing my soul
with every line
bled from my heart
they pour from my fingers
washing you away
‘till all that lingers
are words

I can live with the idea
That we are all merely actors
Playing a part
But I do wish
Whoever is writing my script
Would learn to use
A few more Happy Endings
~Javan

Hoot, I really like this poem, and the line
"they pour from my fingers" very interesting.

A poetic catharsis is such a healing thing.  May it bring you peace and pleasure.  "All that linger are words"--loved this line.

Simply lovely Hoot...

"'til all that lingers are words"
I'll echo Suthern here....she spoke my thoughts too,.... most eloquently...

Some of the things we write out of our pain are some of the best that we do. Plus, I can't think of any better therepy! This is lovely, Ruth. Keep writing!

Thanks everyone...I use my poetry often for cleansing, and sometimes it results in some very deep and overly sad poems. I appologize for that at times

To write the way you describe
Is like to search your soul
And you do it so beautifully
Knowing that you there makes writing worth my while.

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

Although sometimes you may pen poems that are heartbreaking enough to cause tears to fall from these eyes, each and every poem you write shines with the beautiful soul that is you.     Wonderful job with this one!

May I never be too busy to help another's load,
Then I'll be drinking from the saucer 'cause my cup has overflowed.

Hoot-
Lady, this one slipped by me.
(Thank you, David, for bringing it up)

Funny, I never thought about writing as a soul-cleansing process before I read this.
I can see how it is for some people.
I have often advised people to write, write, write ... never realized exactly what I was saying to them about getting it out before.

Thank you for an insight into me.

I guess I write because ...... it's there.

Thank you everyone...I know no other way to write but to bleed out my heart into words...not always a good thing I'm afraid.

Ruth,
This my friend, is what poetry is about!
I read this. Then I read it again and again until I had it memorized. I realize it's a short piece, but somehow you managed to pack the power of an entire civilization's written word into it!
This piece, so true, so welcome, has left a mark on me to be sure. No offense to anyone else, or to any of your other poetry... but this has taken over the spot of my all-time favorite "Passion Poem!"
Awesome my friend, your gift shines through in these words.

You are one of the stand out poets in Passions as evidenced each time you post your poetry. It's more than the words you pen, its the feelings you express and it comes from where we all really live, in our minds, heart and soul.
