His sheepish grin foretold
A tale I would not forget
Though he confesses his sins to me
This was the best one yet.

I settled down to listen
My heart filled with dread
“Sis,” he whispered guiltily
“Last night I wore panties on top of my head”

I tried not to gasp
Tried hard not to stare
All I could say was
“What were they doing there?”

“I don’t remember” he replied
“I wasn’t drinking a lot
But when I woke up, I was naked
In the A&P parking lot”

He told the simple tale
Of a night filled with cheer
And all too soon I realized
He drank a case of beer!

LOLOLOL
You're just too much fun, Sharon!!  That was some challenge...giggles.
The thing is that there were friends of mine where I work, that once wore men's boxers on their heads while we went outside for a break.  They said it was to keep their ears warm...they hadn't drank a drop.  Did I mention, I love my job?  LOL

The postings to this poem confuse me.  I find it well done, but not at all *funny* -- but then I've just come from reading Elizabeth Santos piece on alcoholism.  My brother finnally got out of it through AA.  I don't think this was meant to be funny, was it?

Ted: I presume you mean me as I posted on Elizabeth's...well, I have a sense of humour and the humour was in PDV being able to take up the challenge rather than the situation itself and it in no way detracts from the beauty of Elizabeth's post...I see nothing wrong in sharing both sadness or laughter so long as both are genuine and I think most would not be offended by my post...I'm really sorry you were..

No offense taken or offered, RainbowGirl.  I think these posts are supposed to reflect what we feel at the time, and sometimes we laugh when we think afterwards we should have cried . . . and sometimes the other way around.  Don't let anything I write stop our speaking heart to heart -- that's what Passions lets us do.

Dear PDV
You started my day off with a good laugh.
This reminds me (and I don't usually drink) of the time I had a glass of wine and when asked, couldn't for the life of me remember my daughter's name. It does strange things to the mind, I hope they never find me in a parking lot with anything other than a hat on my head.

I don't drink at all...and I had taken this poem to a darker, more serious place, then rewrote it as I wanted something silly. By the way, the phrase Rebecca gave me was "Last night I wore panties on top of my head"..the stinker giggled thinking I couldn't possibly do it!

Thank you all for your comments. If I've even made one of you smile, the poem was worth it!

Well, off the top of my head, I'd say this was quite entertaining...
