I walk the windswept plains,
With only the memories of you for company,
My soul joins with the descending fog,
No bright beauty today or for me.

I retrace the steps we walked hand in hand,
Missing you all the time,
The wind's song, to me a melody,
With no words or rhyme.

I feel your prescence beside me,
How I wish it was for real,
The sea we gazed at endlessly,
Today looks like cold, grey steel.

In your final hours,
I held your weak body close to mine,
Alone on our windswept plain,
We layed all our fears behind.

You told me how you loved me,
That I was your destiny,
Your weakened hand caressed my face,
This was how you wanted it to be.

The last words you spoke,
'I love you my heart,
I'll always be right beside you,
As I was right from the start'.

Today I walk the plains again,
Remembering our love so strong and true,
Dreaming once again,
Of the love we knew under the blue.

Each year on this day,
The day you left my side,
I come here and remember it all,
The love, the joy, the pride.

I miss you so much my love,
I miss the love we held within,
But only here those memories seem alive,
And in my heart they will never dim.

Let your heart guide you. It whispers, so listen closely.

Bravo my sister! Challange well met. I was not sure what would come of this challange but my girl you did beautifully. This was definately inspired. I am still struggling with the challange you issued me, I am not sure if I am going to be able to finish it.

Beautiful work ... just curious, what was the challenge?

Of his bones are coral made,
Those are pearls that were his eyes;
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange...

Definitely a tale about love that stings the heart.  This gave me a wistful, longing feeling, for I can relate to the sentiments. Beautiful work Isis, just like always.
