20 yrs of keeping it inside.
Now, I can't hide
I'm afraid of the shrink
Afraid of what you think
Why did I keep it secret for so long
When I was weak
You would have been strong
Holding me close
When I needed it most
I can't change the past
Forever inside it will last
So many questions you must have
Are you afraid to ask?
I opened the box the other night
Opening it to the pain it held tight
Exposing it to the light
Locked away years ago
Buried down deep below
Never planning to tell another soul
But some how  it escaped
Leaving me in this state
Feeling so drained
My head reliving the past
Please tell me this won't last
Telling me it not my fault
But holding it in my secret vault.

How about "Secrets"  It is very nice

I don't buy temporary insanity as they murder defense. Because
people kill people. That's and animal instinct. I think breaking
into someone's home and ironing all their clothes is temporary
insanity.

Excellent poem, Cheryl. Full of inner pain and turmoil. Well done. I'm at a loss as to another suggestion for a title....other than maybe...'Exposed'

I feel your pain through this
even though I have no idea
what it is all about.
Illusive Cage
Turmoil Released
Pain Contained
Persistent Past
I don't know this was fun
but I have FAITH you will
figure it ALL out.

This poem leaves you feeling the expression!
Well done!

Dolphins3-

'Vaulting'would be my choice-
you have vaulted leaps and bounds over
an obstacle that many have stumbled on.
Good for you to release it.
God bless.
