Farewell
by miss abagail mannering

I loved you once,
not long ago.
the pain at times,
still grieves me so.
The person called Mike
I came to know,
performed for me,
quite a show.

The laughs we shared
were like a tonic,
but in the end
were like Bubonic.
The lines you said
became unharmonic
and the letters you wrote
were spelled by phonic.

I stood by you,
though you lied to me.
I'd hoped someday
that you would see
how very much I cared
over these past years, three...
but now I know
that will never be.

So, no I bid you
and the 'missus,' "Farewell."
For, if ever you cared for me
i could not tell.
If down life's road we meet..
"Swell."
And  if not..."Oh, well."

written feb. 5-7 1999 this is the 'follow up poem many of you wanted from I WONDER HOW YOU ARE TONIGHT...i wrote this after i found out that he had taken on a supposed wife (whom i now know he did not). I was heart broke...and the rest, as they say, is history.

It's so sad the games some people play. But in the end, it is they who are the losers.
Great poem!

I have to agree with Denise
But there is hope for someone else I see
Sad the last part surely is
Life has a lot of those Hit and Miss
To many I think
Nevertheless a nice poem you did
would it be so good without him?
I know sometimes the price we pay is to high, way to high.
You have my heart
