Forget me never
-I can't forget you-
You the one who beat me
until black and blue

Forget me never
Remember how afraid I used to be?
Not allowed to speak
until you spoke to me

Forget me never
in public, you were so kind
-then once again alone-
you messed with my mind

Forget me never
Remember as I walked away?
Shaking with every step
so scared somehow, I'd have to stay

Forget me never
Remember that girl I used to be?
-REMEMBER-
Because her -again-I will NEVER be!
-SEA-

I heard the phrase 'forget me never' last night. It made me remember my ex-husband. Thank God I am in a wonderful marriage now.

I'm happy for you, sea. No one should have to go through that. Onward....and don't look back.

There comes a time in everybody's life where one must take a stand. I glad to see that you did, because so many don't. Well done.

No one should have to live like that and I'm glad you aren't any longer. We never forget, that's for sure but we can go forward. Time has a way of healing...I no longer wish the same on my ex...I finally just pity him for all that he's lost, never to regain.

Great poem, SEA!

It's wonderful that you can express yourself so well.

I liked this very much. "That which does not kill us only makes us stronger" and from the powerful words of this poem, I see that you have had unthinkable pain poured in your life, but you are a more courageous person because of it. Congrats, SEA.

I'm so glad you're in a happy marriage now....
I'm so glad I didn't live near you "back then"....
I'm so glad I'm not in jail right now for what I would have done to your first hubby.

I'm so glad I'm not in jail now for what I've done to some of the past "hubbys" that were like yours.
I'm so glad that my past experiences with my temper haven't changed my thoughts on such crap from those kind of cowards....
I'm so glad you posted this...as many ladies today need to know they need to leave before some Toerag literally beats the hell outta people like that?...And then they're in trouble too.......Nicely done dear....from someone who knows what you've been through.......but someone did pay a heavy price.....sometimes I'm not terribly humorous....nor as calm, quiet, collective and shy as I am right now. I remember one time in a Kroger when some guy backhanded his wife in front of several other people...I'd had one or two or more drinks, and I think I've convinced him not to go "Krogering" anymore....but it was a costly and embarrassing situation...but well worth my grocery bill!..By the way...don't do what all the others say and "not" look back....DO look back, and pass your story on to all of the women that endure this crap...if someone could just convince these poor souls that there is a real life after such abuse, maybe people like you can make them think!....

No one should have to endure such treatment, Sea... and I'm so glad you're in a happy relationship now. So many women think it's their fault, that they must have deserved it... unable to accept that it's not THEIR shame. Toe's right... your poem is a powerful testament from one who has walked that path that they can move on.

Toerag, you are so great! You have me for a fan my dear. People did see the abuse, did nothing, said nothing. I assure you, I can't forget. My nightmares won't let me. When you forget, you start to feel like 'oh it wasn't so bad'. I remember. I will not forgive. A good example why I won't forgive- When my son was 4 DAYS OLD he threw him up and caught him several times. It was then that I stopped loving him. And started trying to get out!

suthern- thanks. I think women need to speak out and get this crap stopped.Castration is a good punishment....... HEE HEE HEE

SEA: Key words will always trigger off these emotions...even now, I remember too well having to repeat after him.."You're a good man and I'm a worthless bitch"...heck, it brought tears back as I remembered again burning tea on my hand...

Kudos to you

Of all the folks in this world Sea....Rainbow and Suthern know me better than anyone...They know what most of my past is like, my temper, the results, and what I've done......I will never forgive myself for some of my deeds...but I can honestly say....that every thing I've done....every person I've hurt, whether it be from "war"....vengeance, or rape and abuse, has been warranted! But, for some reason, I can't imagine now, that I couldn't have reacted some other way...Less violent?..I just don't know....but my nightmares are probably worse than yours....and I can't forget either..nor forgive myself, or, at least question myself....It's a terrible existance...I'm so happy your life has become happy....I wish it were so with all the victims of such circumstance......I guess the only lesson I could pass on to someone is: "Before ya teach your kids to "stand up for themselves", before ya put them into Karate classes or any form of self defense, before ya teach them to be aggressive, even if it is to protect themselves......know your children well...know their attitude and mental make up.....being a coward in some instances is good.....learning to walk away is usually the smartest thing you can do....defending the "defenseless" is admirable and should be encouraged, teaching them ways to do this without violence is mandatory!

Toe, I have no idea what demons you are living with, but I'm sorry.  I have two step-daughters and my son. I am teaching them not to accept abuse or to take part in it. Funny you mention Karate- we go every Monday evening! My kids are learning not just from our words but by the loving example my husband and I show them every day.   -SEA

You express a painful subject so beautifully. I can't imagine such abuse, but you were very brave to walk away.
This is a wonderful poem,though

Sea..The Martial Arts your kids are taking is probably great....Besides, most kids don't take it as seriously these days....nor is it taught the same way as it once was....and certainly not to the extent that Special Forces taught it.....and besides, I'd imagine, (from what I've gained from their mother)....they're probably really good kids to begin with....I wasn't! LOL....(hell, I'm still pretty screwed up yanno?)

SEA-

This brought back some vivid memories of
a dear, dear friend who lost her life to the abuse of her mate.

We did notice.  We did try to intercede.
But, God bless her ... she didn't have the strength to stand up against his abuse.
One night the monster couldn't stop his tirade ... God knows that a mother lost her life protecting her children drawing his anger to herself, and away from her child ...  she became the ultimate target of his wrath.

I've always carried a guilt that I didn't do more ... but as God is my witness, I tried.

I pray that all of us will continue to reach out to anyone we suspect is being subjected to such horrendous acts.

*Toe- Thank you for being the kind of man that would get outraged at this behavior.
That makes you one heck of a guy in my book.

Sea, Denise, Rainbow Girl,
God bless you all.

Saying thank you just doesn't seem to be enough. It is so hard. Some people will never be able to get away. Fear has a powerful grip. I was lucky, my parents let myself and my son come home and heal.-SEA
