When your last bastion of love is gone,
And all that's left is an empty shell
and broken promises,
When you've nowhere else to turn,
But you're afraid to go back to all
the pain,
Death shall steal in on muffled tread,
Sneak the breath from your lungs
in midsentence.
Life shall cease its finite toil,
The struggle over and no clear
victor named,
And at that moment,
That last crystal clear instant,
You shall know for whom the bell tolls.

Wow -- what a sobering portrait of despair you have painted here!  It was laced in every word ...

Welcome to Passions, BTW -- look forward to reading more from you!

Full fathom five thy father lies,
Of his bones are coral made,
Those are pearls that were his eyes;
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange...
