Before You Go To Sleep

Before you say good-bye, my love
Dance one more dance with me
And sing me one more loving song
Of fishers of the sea

Before you walk away from me
Please tell me one more tale
Of rolling waves and woven nets
And morning's golden sail

Before you go to sleep, my love
Walk with me once more
Along the fine and whitened sands
Of Ipanema's shore

Before you sail the final voyage
Let's listen to the psalm
The wondrous song of Sabia
From top the coconut palm

Before you leave me all alone
Please sprinkle stardust in my face
Just sing me one more melody
Of fisher's secret place

Before you go to meet our God
Say one more prayer with me
Before you fish the golden fish
In heaven's sparkling sea

So follow now the morning star
Its twinkling path to light the way
And ride the smooth and starlit crests
And fish the fishers' way

Elizabeth-
God, how this poem speaks your very heart.
Tony ... is soooooo handsome.
And the tears are in my eyes.
I pray again.
I love you both.

Thank you so much Marge, you have been so supportive. I should footnote this poem by saying that we have been given little if any hope, however, we have months ahead to fight it, and are seeking the best medical care available. We have not given up hope. But this poem just came out this way, this is what is in my heart

I'll join in those tears Liz! This is deeply sorrowful! My dear there is always hope in God! And rest assured you both will be in my prayers. If you don't mind I have a list and would like to send out a prayer request for Anthony to have many more pray for him?
If that's alright with you I'll get right on it as soon as you answer!
God bless you Liz and Anthony. May God guide those doctors!

I should explain that Tony was born and raised on the small island city of Sao Luis,
on the northern coast of Brazil and all his life has planned on retiring to a similar place, where he could live near the beach and fish in the ocean every day. That is the reason for this theme

Marge, Thanks again for your beautiful response and also for your wonderful phone call.(and instructive e-mails)

Kamla, Thank you dear. It was wonderful to hear your voice. (I don't want to see that phone bill.) Thanks for all your support

Sherry, Not too distant to be felt in my heart
Thank you

Denise, Always there for me, you give me strength

Balladeer. I have a shoulder for you to cry on. I am touched that you were moved by this.Thank you and thanks for your help in getting this picture posted

Martie, It's so wonderful to have you read and feel my emotions. Thank you

PDV. I don't know what I would do right now without my poet family. You all have given so much love and support

Tulip, Thank you so much

Whtdove, Thank you so very much and the answer of course is yes

Love you all

How could this be posted so long without me seeing?  Liz as I read this my heart fell and my tears began and I can see the love you have for him.  I ask that the Lord find you and that his love embrace you and Tony.  to provide comfort in this time... What a true blessing and gift you have given and may your blessing forever flow.  GOD BLESS

Elizabeth, your poem for your husband is precious and everlasting...as is your love for him. So much of what you impart with these words, I have experienced, so recently. I cannot tell you the depth to which this moves me. Love him within each precious moment, dear Elizabeth, and let him love you just as furiously and peacefully as he can.

Love and shared peace,
Claire

Trying to type while tears are streaming down one's face is difficult but when I think of the difficulty you are going through right now it is a small price to pay to tell you that you and Tony will be in our thoughts and prayers in our home for as long as you need and/or want them. This is a lovely post that truly expresses the depth of your love and devotion to your husband. You are truly blessed and are truly a blessing as well. Love and lots of (((hugs)))
to both of you.

Lizzy...You're husband looks like a movie star!  You know you are both in everyone's prayers...(even mine for what it's probably worth), I know exactly what you're going through...but yanno?...It's strange, but from reading most all of your stuff over these past few months...I think you're probably a strong gal....and strength is a very valuable asset right now....not only for yourself and family, but your husband too....Chin up....determined attitude.....and an optimistic look at everyday will help all of you a bunch.....Keep the faith gal....Ya gotta lotta friends here thinking of you!

Elizabeth and Tony ~

May angels hover in strange form over,
taking weight of life off of your shoulders;
may angels' wings dry your tears
and God and Heaven you never fear.

May you know deep strong contentment
in the remaining days you have to spend
for every day shall a blessing be
when in your love's eyes, love you see.

Sweetheart: Your poem speaks of love that is defined by memories of both past and future - memories live on Elizabeth, they will live on in your children and each time your heart beats so the love will beat in unison as the sound reverberates with the crashing of the waves ...

Huge hugs sweetheart

Don't ask me where I'm going, just listen when I'm gone and far away you'll hear me singing softly to the dawn.

Thank you all for your concerns and your beautiful responses. We have had some encouragement from a doctor at the Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, and Tony will be seeing another doctor at the Univ of Pa Hospital in Phila.this Friday, so he will be in the best of hands. Things might work out after all. Perhaps those prayers are working.
I hope so
