Tapping on a window,
...within a darkened mind,
Will the sunlight filter in,
...through a shuttered blind?

Not a bolt of lightning,
...to chase the dark away,
But gentle glow of morning sun,
...harkens coming day.

Through the clouds does brightness pierce,
...igniting spark inside,
With its radiance, noonday sun,
...opens shutters wide.

Within a mind, bright light will shine,
...forevermore will keep,
Memories of a summer sun,
...whose light within runs deep.

There is always light amongst the shadows, should one care to look ... well done Mike!

PS:  Line 8 -- "hearken"

Full fathom five thy father lies,
Of his bones are coral made,
Those are pearls that were his eyes;
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange...

I can tell you as a teacher that this ray of light was the reason and the answer to the question, why? Each new day is a teacher too. Very good MIke.  Excellent poem.

Denise, Marti and Kess: thank you for your comments. They are appreciated.  Yep, we learn something everyday if we so choose to open our eyes.

Face it with a grin
Smilers never lose
And frowners never win.."
