Checkout At the Supermarket

Her face was pale around her red lips,
damp strands of dark hair
streaked her forehead,
shorts, flip-flops and halter top
from which ample breastís oozed
completed the picture.

Pretty girl I thought,
then her mouth twisted in anger
as she slapped the hand of the child
attempting to grab gum.

His freckled face crumbled.

     She hissed
as the coupons she was holding
           fell.

As she bent to pick them up
she met my stare with
the most remarkable sky blue eyes.

Sounds like she was surely having a bad day. I've been there a few times, myself. I want to reach out and give that little baby a hug! You can write about anything, Martie, and present a crystal clear view for my eyes!!

Martie, this made me feel sad inside. The woman you write of, was she as young as I picture her to be?   - SEA

Well at first I was getting one HECK of a
picture.
But after reading futher I seen something that I can relate to in many way`s.
KID`S....I love`m but I have`m, so in a way I
can relate to the smack of the hand.
If that`s the worst her little one get`s then I see nothing wrong.
Great writing

Not judging here, just an observation.   I've had some really bad experiences in supermarkets with my kids when they were little, and yes...she was young, she was old, she could have been any woman...she could have been me.
