(In case you're wondering...my chalange was to use the line "In the moonlight, shadows dancing" in a poem. I wrote this after I issued the challange because I liked the sound of the line so well)

Together Forever

In the moonlight, shadows dancing
Playing light against the wall
In the darkness, two romancing
Answering love’s beckoned call

As the darkness fades to daylight
And sunlight rises in the sky
Passions fires will once more ignite
And hours, they will soon fly by

So the day goes for two lovers
Caught inside this spell they’ve cast
Destiny around them hovers
Time moves slow and yet so fast

The clock it’s ticking now unceasing
They try to halt it, make time last
The days, the months, the years increasing
Their life is moving way too fast

They said they’d be as one forever
Meant it when they took that vow
Their love, their passion, pausing never
Their span together shorter now

So, once more, they dance in moonlight
The two as one in mind and soul
No other man, to her, will be right
No other woman will make him whole

They spend these final hours together
Her age’d body, tired and frail
And as she slips into forever
His lips emit a piteous wail

“Please my love,” his words implore her
“Do not leave me here alone”
Crying, sobbing, begging further
“You are my life, all that I’ve known”

He pulls her lifeless body to him
He feels the pain inside him start
Looks at her till his sight goes dim
Then dies too, of broken heart

In this story find a lesson,
Love and life it ends too soon.
Find the passion ever glowing,
Find it true and never fade.

Hold on fast and charish ever,
Love's true kiss upon your life.
For in the end, the final dawning,
Life's breath does cease and so a heart.

There is no light but that within your eyes,
No soothing dark but that of your embrace --
No breath but one that bears your sweet perfume,
No beauty but the sculpture of your face.
There is no rain but your exquisite tears,
And I can only pray to ease the storm;
There is no life but that which can be found
Instilled like gentle music in your form.
There is no sustenance but in your kiss,
There is no truth but you declare it true --
Most tender love, in all my universe,
There is no time, no distance -- only you.

Inspiring verse, Ruth!  Thank you!

Of his bones are coral made,
Those are pearls that were his eyes;
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange...

This was very nice, lil Hootessa.  There's nothing like a good old love til death poem to get the emotions flowing.

A gift of words you do have! When you put them together you create magic!
