Nocturne

Alien imbues my room,
soundlessly supple,
shapelessly shifting,
nocturnally natural.

Under blanket of sleep,
my dull dreams vanish,
slyly supplanting its own,
vibrancy filling in gray.

Vast sigh steeping breast,
whirlwind in my mind,
giant in a small space,
bellowing joviality.

Bearing intrinsic truths,
visiting nearly nightly,
no longer afraid am I,
no longer alone am I.

Humming a familiar tune
antique nursery rhyme,
fingering smile on lips,
shushing bothered brow.

Olden tales it tells,
fanciful and erotic,
but finales are mine,
quixotic suppressions.

Surrendering a bit,
in return for this gift,
replenishing serenity
with one wise whisper.

Visitor nocturnal,
vanquishing fears,
licking up tears,
laughter replete.

Great poem, Corinne,
"intrisic truths" ... "quixotic suppressions"
love the word choice.

Beautiful, Corrine! This gave me such a wonderful feeling of peace!

Corinne, I enjoyed reading this fine poem. Liked your alliteration and unusual phrasings.

Thank you, Denise, for all your kinds words!

Thanks, meadowmuse, I do lean heavily on alliteration, huh?

This, to me, seems like the strangest thing I've written. Oh, well!

Corrine-

I just like this so very much.
After a couple of re-reads ...
it still goes down mellow.
Beautifully flowing.

its deep, youare
obviously reaching
new levels of your
soul, keep digging
and keep writing.

And I'll keep digging it

Corinne, this is a wonderfull piece, I don't understand it all, and I probably made some wrong assumptions in my wicked little mind, but I sure loved it whatever hidden meanings it has.

Catslair, Echo Rhayne, Hoot_Owl_M and Severn:  Thank you!

Marge, I thank you for rereading it. Mellow is the feeling I'd hope for...a voice inside of us that says: "its going to be okay."

Paul: You are very perceptive!

Elizabeth - thank you, I was very unsure of this one.

And last but not least, Parker:  I'd sure love to hear some of those wicked assumptions!  (grinning)

Corinne
